The municipality of Emmaboda in Sweden is replacing mercury lamps to Aura Light’s metal halide lamp – Aura Crystal Long Life. “The goal was to be as energy efficient as possible and still maintain the quality of the light”.
The municipality of Emmaboda is located in the county of Kalmar in Sweden and has about 9,200 residents. One of their focus is to be energy efficient while maintaining a good lighting.
Energy efficient lighting with Aura Crystal Long Life
Emmaboda is installing 1,300 Aura Crystal Long Life, which is a Metal Halide lamp with a high quality light, well suited for urban street lighting. The municipality of Emmaboda has a close collaboration with the municipality of Kalmar, which in turn has a cooperation with Aura Light. Therefore the products from Aura Light always was one of the alternatives when it was time to replace the mercury lamps.
“When we made the decision to use Aura Crystal Long Life the goal was to be as energy efficient as possible and still maintain the quality of the light. The initial objective was to remove 2,300 mercury lamps. We wanted to do this as quick as possible but obviously it became a matter of cost, thereof the choice of Aura Crystal Long Life. Since the lamps have a longer lifetime, we don’t have to change them as frequently which makes it more cost efficient”, says Erling Karlsson, Technical Manager at the municipality of Emmaboda.
Change all lighting to 35W to save energy
Erling Karlsson tells why they chose Aura Crystal Long Life. “When we took over the responsibility of the lighting three years ago, we noticed the need of re-fitment We wanted a white light which you get from Metal Halide. Combined with our goal of changing all street lighting to 35W to save energy, we chose Aura Crystal Long Life. This lighting is well suited for our purpose.
