ABiTEP focuses on the manufacture of plant fortifiers, soil additives and other biotechnical products for use in agriculture and gardening. Production is based on natural bacteria found in soil.
“Our firm is a good example of how biotechnology in agriculture can be more than genetic modification,” says Managing Partner Dr. Helmut Junge. “We offer completely natural products with high user value. Our products are an alternative or at least a supplement to chemical products. They are just as effective and reduce the need for chemicals.”
With public attention increasingly focused on sustainability and ecofriendly farming, the company has been able to carve out a niche for itself. ABiTEP is the only company in its segment in Germany and one of only a few in Europe.
Founded in 2005 as a successor to FZB Biotechnik GmbH, ABiTEP is located in Berlin with a joint venture in China. Dr. Junge leads the company with Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Paul Beifort. The 16-man team earned a 2012 turnover of 1.5 million EUR with sales increasing throughout Western and Eastern Europe, Israel, South Africa and Brazil.
Plans for the coming years include larger capacities and the acquisition of a small firm for the production of biological cleaning products, thereby adding to the company’s range.
