A global team for risk solutions

“We are advisors in a most important issue in the economy, risk,” says Hristo Borissov, CEO of Aon Risk Solutions Czech Republic and Slovakia. “Businesses are faced with a variety of risks and we know them all. Backed by a global organization with a wealth of expertise in risk management, we know how to identify risks and find the best solution for the specific needs of our clients.” Aon Central and Eastern Europe is part of the globally active Aon plc. Established in 1982 by the merger of two insurance companies, Aon developed into a global business through strong revenue growth and ongoing strategic acquisitions. Headquartered in the UK, Aon employs a staff of 66,000 in 120 countries worldwide today and generates a turnover of 11.8 billion USD.

“We have been active in the Czech Republic since 1992,” explains Mr. Borissov. “Initially, we followed customers when they started activities here and established the Czech branch. Just like the parent, we grew through the acquisition of established Czech companies, including the biggest local broker. Today, we are well-established in the Czech and Slovak markets and serve customers with a staff of 140 at our headquarters in Prague and our offices in Olomouc, Jihlava and Bratislava. At present we contribute 400 million CZK to Aon’s turnover.”

Just like all branches worldwide, the company is active in three fields of competence, Aon Risk Solutions, Risk Management and brokerage, Aon Hewitt, human resources management and outsourcing, and Aon Benfield, reinsurance. “As a service provider we do not take risk on our own,” underlines Mr. Borissov. “We act as a broker and a consultant with our focus on customers’ specific needs. We have an experienced team of risk experts and we cooperate with leading insurance companies to find the best and most effective solution for customers. moreover, we put the emphasis on consulting. We help customers uncover risks and find new opportunities to make their business more successful. With our global presence we have in-depth knowledge of foreign markets and can also advise customers on future needs when they open up export markets. We also provide services with high added value and measurable business impact in human resources, helping customers recruit, retain, motivate and reward the best talent in the industry.”

The company serves medium and large-sized companies in a variety of sectors, from agriculture and aerospace through to finance. “The Czech Republic weathered the economic crisis well,” states the CEO. “There were drawbacks, but our export-orientation helped a lot. For us, the crisis offered opportunities through the increased demand for security. We succeeded in winning new customers and expanding our services for existing customers. So we contributed to helping our customers overcome the crisis while staying true to the Aon motto ‘What can I do to help a client and to help a colleague to help a client.’ We are a global team of specialists supporting each other. So we have a lot in common with football and we will continue to partner with Manchester United with our logo on their training kit and at the Aon Training Complex and as the presenting partner of their global pre-season tours. We are a strong company and we will be stronger in the future by fine-tuning the segments to better meet customers’ demands.
