Since the first health facilities were installed in Bad Saarow in the early 20th century, artists and celebrities have been drawn to the lake and the delightful spa gardens. The sanitarium was built in 1911, and the peat health spa followed in 1914. Today Bad Saarow Kur GmbH operates the thermal saltwater and peat health spa SaarowTherme, one of the most beautiful and modern thermal saltwater spas in Germany. Underwater geysers, massage jets and water currents, whirlpools and massage pools provide soothing enjoyment. The largest connected thermal saltwater pools in central and northern Germany offer a complete wellness and health experience.
The beautiful spa gardens provide breathtaking views of Scharmützel Lake and invite guests to wander along meandering paths under old trees. “We have invested 59 million EUR to restructure Bad Saarow with its spa, develop the peat meadows, renew the well and the theater by the lake, and create infrastructure,” explains Managing Director Axel Walter. “We also own Scharmützelsee Schifffahrt GmbH and Gastronomie GmbH, whose services are part of our total concept. We offer ideal conditions for guests who want to let body and soul recuperate. Our new sauna landscape is designed to embed visitors in the countryside around the lake so that they can enjoy the views and forget the world.” At present, Bad Saarow spa attracts more than 250,000 visitors per year.
“It is the total package of thermal spa, wellness, boating and gastronomy that accounts for our success,” concludes Mr. Walter. “Our location near Berlin on the one hand and a beautiful position amidst nature on the other is a trump card for the years ahead.”
