The company was founded by Dr. Niels Ellwanger and Dr. Roman Dudenhausen in 1996. “During our doctoral studies, we recognized that the energy market would change gradually,” explains Dr. Dudenhausen, member of the board of con|energy. “Already then, we worked as consultants to the energy sector.” Today, about two thirds of the shares of the company are held by the board and the founders. At all locations, including offices and subsidiaries in Berlin, Leipzig and Cologne, the company has 220 people and earned turnover of 20 million EUR in 2012. con|energy offers consultation and events for the energy segment.
“Our portfolio includes an in-house publishing house, ener|gate, for energy-related information for more than 10,000 professionals, and organization of the E-world energy fair with more than 30,000 visitors,” says Dr. Dudenhausen. “We also provide advice on municipal climate concepts, concession topics, decentralized power generation, and strategic, organizational, process and IT consultation.” With its extensive competence in the energy sector, energy economics and energy-related topics, con|energy is unique on the domestic market.
“Through cooperation with external partners and thoroughly planned project work, we can provide B2B customers with a broad network of services,” explains the member of the board. “We are increasingly using direct approaches to address these customers.” Lately, con|energy’s foreign business also developed positively. “Our export rate is 10% and rising,” states Dr. Dudenhausen. In the future, the company strives to maintain its good position on the market. “We expect dynamic changes. It is of utmost importance to question our business areas regularly and adapt to new trends.”
