An airy solution

Founded in 1990, Freno’s inital focus was set on creating high quality spring suspension systems for cars and trailers. Today, the company specializes in the development of chassis and suspension systems for light trucks.

“Our air suspension systems have a good variety of interesting and unique features,” explains Peter Berggren, purchasing manager at Freno. “The products are designed and built for well-known vehicle manufacturers such as Citroën, Fiat, Ford, Opel, Peugeot, Renault and VW and intended to make customers’ lives easier, more productive and safer.”

Headed by founder and CEO Anders Sjölund and with ten employees, Freno generates an annual turnover of two million EUR. “Most of our sales volume is made up by our customizable products, for example our Eurochassi trailer,” states the purchasing manager. “Highly popular is our Paratransit & Wheelchair taxi to transport handicapped people by means of an easy on and easy off ramp system with plenty of floor, side and roof space.”

Although Freno’s domestic sales is its strong suit, exports have been growing in the past years. “Our foreign business already amounts up to 20%,” says Mr. Berggren. “Together with VW, we created the latest VW Caddy Be Free system for wheelchair transport, which is marketed all over Europe at the moment. In general, we supply the taxi and wheelchair industry. Furthermore, chassis kit sales to Germany and Sweden make up 20% of our turnover.”

In the future, Freno aims to increase its foreign activities. “With our reliable products, we want to find additional sales partners in Germany,” explains the purchasing manager. “Innovation will always be our primary goal.”
