European Business: Mr. Németh, your company consists of three business divisions: Data Centers, Security Systems and Intelligent Buildings. Can you please explain what their main activities are?

Mihály Németh: The first is concerned with the planning and turnkey construction of data centers, including engineering, cooling, power supply, electromagnetic and radio frequency protection, fire protection, infrastructure, IT networks and green energy solutions. Our second unit is specialized in security systems, ranging from mechanical protection, video surveillance and intrusion detection solutions to access control systems, life protection systems and x-ray screening systems. And the third one focuses on smart building management systems, energy management systems and energy audits.

European Business: When your company was created in 1993, you were in quite a different line of business.

Mihály Németh: Yes, we started as a distributor of window heat protection and security films for 3M. Four years later, we developed the security market and began selling electric security systems. Later, we added more security products to the portfolio, such as access control, fire protection or video surveillance systems.

European Business: When did you enter the data center market?

Mihály Németh: That was in 2004 when we became the exclusive representative of the German Lampertz Company in Hungary. Lampertz is a leading supplier of secure, compact, highly available data centers. Since then, we have constructed a growing number of high-security data centers.

European Business: Can you give an example of an outstanding project?

Mihály Németh: In 2012, we constructed the Wigner Data Center on behalf of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, which is a key element in the Large Hadron Collider project of the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN. For this purpose, we converted an existing building into a 2,000 m2, next-generation data center with four high-performance, energy-efficient server rooms.EB: Another major achievement is the first data center in Hungary with a TIER III certification that you completed in 2018.Mihály Németh: Yes, last year we constructed a TIER III certified data center for Invitech Solutions, the first of its kind in Hungary. TIER III means that the data center complies with the highest security standards and availability requirements.

Mihály Németh: Yes, last year we constructed a TIER III certified data center for Invitech Solutions, the first of its kind in Hungary. TIER III means that the data center complies with the highest security standards and availability requirements.

European Business: Are you restricted to the Hungarian market or do you have any international activities, too?

Mihály Németh: We have been expanding abroad since 2016 and have international offices in Dubai and Singapore. We are currently establishing a new subsidiary in Sweden and work closely together with partners in Belgium, Germany and Azerbaijan. We are a dynamically evolving company with a rapidly developing international business and four billion HUF in revenues. Within the next two years, we want to double our sales. We are operating in two high-growth markets – digitalization and security – that affect almost all industrial sectors and areas of public life.

European Business: How are you going to implement your ambitious development plans?

Mihály Németh: The most important thing is to establish a corporate culture where everyone contributes to a common goal and assumes responsibility. To create an environment where all colleagues share the same vision and feel they belong to a happy organization. Before I came to H1 Systems, I had been working for T-Systems, a large multinational enterprise where I had been able to support many people in pursuing their individual career and becoming happier persons on the way. My goal is to accomplish the same in a medium-sized company with Hungarian background, to form an atmosphere that enables everyone to keep up their motivation and that sets energy free. Many of our employees have been with us for 15 or 20 years. Our success would not have been possible without them. The team is essential, together with constant technological innovation, which is the merit of our founder András Csere, and continuous adaptation to changing market requirements.

European Business: Besides doubling the company’s sales within the next two years, what are your objectives for H1 Systems?

Mihály Németh: In my vision, H1 Systems will be developing into the leading Hungarian provider of data center, security and building management solutions, with high-quality products, acknowledged expertise and nationwide and international recognition.
