Make dream events child’s play

“Hans-Peter Porsche is an enthusiastic toy collector, and he wanted to offer the public the opportunity to share his passion. This was the basis of the idea for this world of experience,” explains Managing Director Oliver Schwenk.

Opened in 2015 and attracting 100,000 visitors from around the world in its first year, one focal point of the 55,000 m² exhibition center is a huge model railway on which 40 trains run concurrently within a stunning alpine landscape reflecting the local region, complete with sound effects and day, night and weather simulation.

The railway is only one element of a feast of fun awaiting visitors. “Our collection of tin toys is housed in a 3,500 m² display area, and particularly captivates young visitors,” continues Mr. Schwenk. “We are aiming to enthral guests even more as we introduce working models such as ships and locomotives.”

Not only families are beguiled by the amazing exhibition; there are equally exciting facilities for business clients too, who use the center as an event location. “We see huge potential to define ourselves through our events service,” Mr. Schwenk points out. “Our venue is unique; we have a seminar room for up to 30 people as well as a bigger room for events with up to 700 participants, where exclusive Porsches, from classic cars to the latest models, are displayed.”

The location is perfect for special events and celebrations. To ensure exhibition guests do not go hungry during their visit, there is a restaurant serving simple but classic food. Catering for events moves to another level, offering seven to eight course, top-quality cuisine.

Visitors can also purchase toys in the shop to remind them of a great day out. The shop will also go online in 2017. “It is the concept of combining the museum, railway, car exhibition and gastronomy which makes us unique,” notes the Managing Director.

TraumWerk has become an important attraction for the region, generating both income and jobs. Future plans include KlassikWerk – a car exhibition and workshop – and a hotel providing quality accommodation for tourists and business guests.
