Headquartered in Malå, Sweden, MALÅ Geoscience is a global leader in ground penetrating radar, or GPR. MALÅ’s GPR technology uses non-harmful radar pulses to detect metallic and non-metallic objects in the subsurface, map the results, and transform all that accurate, intricate data into an appealing, easy-to-understand visual presentation.
These days, the company’s products include the Utility Locating System GPR, also known as the MALÅ Easy Locator, a simple multi-technical system capable of detecting targets as small as 3 cm at a depth of 4 m and intended for use on small-scale field applications, and the MALÅ Mira System, a vehiclemounted 3D GPR system equipped with up to 30 antennas and capable of quickly providing exhaustive 3D data.
Widely used in large-scale projects like dam wall inspection, the MALÅ Mira is the most advanced GPR system on the market. MALÅ Geoscience sells its products in over 100 countries, with exports accounting for 95% of their business.
Construction, archaeology, geothermal and climate research are the most prominent industries to employ MALÅ technology. “MALÅ Geoscience has a nondestruction mentality,” states Niclas Ingemarsson, the company’s CEO. Mr. Ingemarsson hopes to maintain MALÅ’s high standard for products and services while finding new significant markets and simplifying needs across the globe.
