Michael Page Switzerland was founded in Geneva in 2001 and now has four Swiss offices including in Geneva, Zurich and Lausanne as well as 154 offices worldwide.

“The years between 2005 and 2008 were characterized by steady expansion and were incredibly successful,” underlines Mr. Franier. “We benefitted a lot from these golden years. It did not take long for our staff numbers to reach 200 people.” At the beginning, under the brand of Michael Page, the company focused on banking and financial services. Step by step, other sectors and brands were added. “Eventually, we introduced the brand Page Personnel on the Swiss market, which focuses on the recruitment of qualified personnel and graduates,” adds Mr. Franier. “With Page Executive, we focus on the placement of directors and other senior executives with both permanent and interim positions.”

From banking to engineering

Today, Michael Page Switzerland has a much broader portfolio than in the early days when the banking and financial division played a key role. “Due to the financial crisis in 2008, the market has changed significantly,” stresses Mr. Franier. “The connection to important Swiss banks and financial institutions is still there but is not as tight as it was before. Instead, we invest more and more in technical professions and medium and smaller-sized companies. For us, it has become crucial to work with local clients in Switzerland.”

Due to such continuous adaptation, Michael Page has not been affected seriously by the crisis but can rely on a well-balanced group of customers and services. “Nowadays, interim management solutions are becoming more and more important,” adds Mr. Franier. “On behalf of our clients, we look for suitable candidates with many years of experience who offer their services to companies for a certain time, generally ranging from one month to one year. This way companies are able to close a gap and/or maintain business momentum in the present volatile situation. Today, around 20% of our turnover is comprised of interim management solutions, and we are already seeing continued strong growth in 2015”.

In 2014, Michael Page Switzerland was responsible for the recruitment of around 1,300 candidates in Switzerland. Due to its excellent reputation at home and abroad, the company’s customer base is fairly broad. Each week consultants contact almost 400 clients in Switzerland.
