The local connection for IT solutions

It can never be a disadvantage being part of a large player, if not the largest player, in the telecommunications markets. Since 2006 T-Systems on site services has been part of Deutsche Telekom, a name that has been shaping German and international telecommunication for decades.

“As a driver of innovation within the Telekom Group, T-Systems on site services has been supplying innovative solutions for connecting business and society, acting in various industries successfully for years,” says Managing Director Georg Rätker. “Our company’s name T-Systems on site services is both assignment and concept, as we are close to the local customer. And this proximity to the customer allows us to react to his individual specifications and requirements straight away.”

T-Systems on site services can adjust quickly to changing project and contract situations, and it sets up its portfolio accordingly, falling back on lean and cost-efficient structures. “In principle, we focus on two key segments,” points out Mr. Rätker. “First of all, we provide IT services in the field of systems integration, consulting and professional services, as well as comprehensive customer services with own staff at our customer’s site. I daresay that our staff members boast great expertise in process understanding when it comes to procurement and logistics, for instance.”

In partner management, T-Systems on site services acts as general contractor for small companies, focusing on procuring IT process solutions, which include billing solutions. “This service brings enormous cost savings for the customer. However, we only decide according to individual specifications.”

The services are offered at the company’s three locations in Berlin, Hamburg and Wolfsburg. “Berlin is our traditional headquarters, so to speak,” adds Mr. Rätker. “GEDAS, the predecessor of what we are today, was first founded in 1983, and it was taken over by T-Systems in 2006. The company had a clear focus and provided expertise and support in the development and implementation of adequate IT solutions for the automotive industry.”

T-Systems on site services with its 300 employees might be a mediumsized company in the market, but due to its dynamic and quick approach, it has become a sound partner to a number of large industrial players. In cooperation with its customer Volkswagen, T-Systems on site services won the Innovation Award Logistics 2007, given by VDI-Gesellschaft Fördertechnik Materialfluss Logistik, which awarded a solution for automated transport control in intralogistics, which guarantees the customer – a large automobile group – a maximum increase in production capacities at seven locations in Europe. The new and innovative system controls more than 60,000 flawless material movements and thereby optimises transport costs and storage periods.

“It is our vision to provide flexible and cost-efficient resources,” stresses Mr. Rätker. “In combination with our proximity to the current project, guaranteed by individual contact persons and customised solutions, we can provide cutting-edge IT services.”

Another important factor for longstanding success is the strong potential of the company’s staff members. “Most of our employees are highly motivated and show specialist knowhow,” says Mr. Rätker.

In order to provide the best possible services, T-Systems on site services has bundled its services according to customer requirements. “We are the competent partner in logistics systems and processes, procurement and financial systems, PLM and IT controlling, technology consulting and support, as well as in sales and services,” says Mr. Rätker

T-Systems on site services predicts continued growth for the coming years. Web-based applications and security are key features in this context. “Another crucial issue is our recruitment policy. We realise that it is getting increasingly difficult to find good and qualified staff. We are present at recruitment fairs, and we are in contact with universities and polytechnics in order to attract up-and-coming talents,” says Mr. Rätker, looking ahead.

T-Systems on site services is then going to focus on its existing business, which is a crucial component in continuing the company’s positive growth scenario.
