The story of exporting vehicles to Africa, South America and Asia all started back in 1973 when Roger Engels, the company’s founder and father of the current owner, has embarked on selling used cars to countries outside Europe.
“In the early years, our family company mainly sold used cars, but in the course of the years we started focusing more and more on new cars,” says CEO Alexandre Engels.
Today, Transautomobile employs 20 people, who ensure that sales to diplomats, businessmen, governments and enterprises in more than 100 countries run as smoothly as possible and that every customer gets the car that meets their requirements.
“We are interested in healthy and long term/stable business relationships with our customers. Over the years we have become a well-known name in the African market and customers know what to expect from us,” points out Mr. Engels. This has grown despite market instability and today 80% of our turnover is generated through customers in Africa. “This shows that long term trust, reliability and consistency are key and a central part of our business.”
Transautomobile offers a broad portfolio of brands but Toyota in particular is one that is in high demand in Africa. Nevertheless, the company also exports Kia, Mercedes, Hyundai, Land Rover, Mercedes, Caterpillar and many more.

“The car manufacturers configure the cars for the African market, and we keep in close contact with them,” stresses Mr. Engels. “Our customers really appreciate that we find what they are looking for, and can guarantee fast delivery. It is, above all, our reliability and efficiency they appreciate. We provide them with all the information they need so they know exactly where they stand.” For TRANSAUTOMOBILE, the customer is always put first, even if they change their mind several times. “We do everything for them. Everybody in our team is fully involved in all procedures and can cover every position at any time. We keep track of all contacts and aim for the best car there is.”
