Automated Packaging Technology
Interview with Ernst-Martin Tröscher, Company Founder & Authorized Officer and Leon Luis Lincoln Tröscher, Managing Director of AVT Automatisierte Verpackungs-Technologie GmbH
Whether in medical technology, industry or toys – AVT Automatisierte Verpackungstechnologie GmbH has secured a firm place in the market with custom-made special machines and holistic approaches. In the conversation, founder Ernst-Martin Tröscher and managing director Leon Luis Lincoln Tröscher provide insights into company history, current challenges, and plans for the future.
As a young engineer in the early 1990s, Ernst-Martin Tröscher experienced the recession during a time when hardly any companies were being founded, yet he still founded AVT GmbH. 'We knew that we would only be successful with a holistic approach. That's why we looked at the entire process chain from the beginning – from filling to further transportation,' explains Ernst-Martin Tröscher. Despite difficult conditions, this approach enabled entry into several key industries. Since then, AVT GmbH has continued to develop continuously, despite recurrent crises, and grew steadily until the COVID-19 interruption. During the lockdowns, the company utilized state aid but decided clearly: they would never do that again, as restarting took too much time and energy. Today, AVT GmbH employs 33 people and generates around 7 million EUR in revenue. The portfolio includes packaging systems for pouches, cartons, and containers, of which 90% are special machines.
Standard solutions serve as the basis for individual custom solutions. The grown expertise is crucial – often AVT GmbH provides the ideas, which are implemented together with customers.
Focus on Sustainability, Skilled Workforce, and Internationalization
The shortage of skilled workers remains a challenge. 'The fact that large companies are releasing personnel opens up opportunities for us to recruit good people,' emphasizes Leon Luis Lincoln Tröscher. Conglomerates like Bosch or Daimler attract with high salaries, while AVT GmbH as a medium-sized company banks on other strengths – such as a corporate culture with employee benefits. Customers also benefit: With AVT systems, they save on personnel and increase their efficiency. Almost all processes are fully automated today, which ensures predictability and
Efficiency increased. Clients like Rosenberger and Würth rely on AVT GmbH, while during the Corona period, a gaming boom at Ravensburger led to additional demand. After a weak start to the year, investments are now picking up again. From the government, business owners expect clear decisions, less bureaucracy, and modernized processes – as well as peace in Europe and a stable Euro. Sustainability is gaining importance: machines for paper or recycled materials are in higher demand. In parallel, export activities, previously focused on the DACH region, are to be strategically expanded to Scandinavia and the USA. 'First, we want to stabilize the company and then grow with a broader portfolio – always with an eye on international competitiveness,' says Leon Luis Lincoln Tröscher in conclusion.
