Interview with David Fliskowski, managing partner of C.F. Protec Schwertransportsicherung GmbH and D.F. Protec GmbH, and Jörg Finke, managing director of D.F. Protec GmbH and SPE Verkehrstechnik GmbH

A Family Business
C.F. Protec was founded in 2005 by Cornelia Fliskowski. Back then, the company handled transports of up to 40 m in length, but today they safely manage impressive 100 m journeys across Germany's roads. The next generation, led by David Fliskowski, has now taken over the company and runs it with great dedication. "I am very proud of what my mother has built here," the CEO says. "It is a classic family business, and we stick together firmly. For instance, we have lunch together daily at the office, and every Thursday an osteopath visits us." This family atmosphere is also reflected in their work approach. "Without our team, we would be nothing," adds the CEO. "The respect for what the guys and gals achieve on the road is enormous."
To optimize its offerings, the subsidiary D.F. Protec GmbH was founded in 2014. In addition to C.F. Protec Schwertransportsicherung GmbH, David Fliskowski also leads D.F. Protec GmbH, which was established to further expand the heavy transport security sector. "D.F. Protec takes care of the application and implementation of necessary measures such as the removal of obstacles or traffic signs," says Jörg Finke. "SPE Verkehrstechnik GmbH, which was founded in 2023, handles the technical implementation of traffic safety on site. With SPE, we can now offer services in-house that were previously outsourced." The group of companies employs an average of 90 to 100 employees who all pull together.
Complete Package
C.F. Protec offers a wide range of services related to heavy haulage. This includes the applications and implementations of all required permits to get the transports 'on the road'. This includes the provision of BF3 and BF4 vehicles, auxiliary police officers in the Lower Saxony area, and administrative assistants. Notably, the innovative use of 3D scanning vehicles, which are used for route reconnaissance, should be highlighted. These vehicles create a detailed route inspection protocol to ensure that each transport runs smoothly. The subsidiary D.F. Protec takes over the complex tasks of transport planning and coordination. "We are available 24/7, always give 110%, and have found a solution for every transport so far," says David Fliskowski. The companies work closely with authorities. Jörg Finke, who has been with the company since March 2016 and specializes in the project planning of wind turbines, adds: "SPE likewise ensures the security of the expansion measures. We make sure that everything runs smoothly."
For Every Challenge
An example of the successful work of C.F. Protec and its subsidiaries is a challenging project in the Lüneburg area. "There, we had to completely cover a weight-restricted bridge with a temporary bridge. Such complex projects are routine for our companies, though. Each project has its own characteristics and difficulties, but we have always managed to succeed," explains Jörg Finke. "It's a big challenge, but that's exactly what makes our job so exciting." The passion for their work drives the teams of C.F. Protec, D.F. Protec, and SPE. "We accompany each project to the end—it's an indescribable feeling when you see that everything has been successfully completed," notes David Fliskowski. "Our clients can rely on us, and that makes us particularly proud as a family business." For the future, David Fliskowski sees the need to adapt to the increasing demands of the market: "The projects are getting bigger and more complex. We need to expand in all areas, as the demand is steadily increasing." There are also ambitious plans for SPE Verkehrstechnik GmbH. "We want to diversify SPE and also work in cooperation with construction firms, not just in the area of heavy-duty projects," says Jörg Finke. "With passion, innovation, and a strong team, we overcome every challenge—and always in the interest of our clients."
