One Step Ahead in Green Areas
Interview with Markus Quathamer, Managing Partner at Quathamer GmbH Garten- und Landschaftsbau
For the managers of Quathamer GmbH Garten- und Landschaftsbau, quality comes before quantity. 'We get involved when a terrain has more corners: in complex projects, for example with canal construction,' says Markus Quathamer. Since 2016, he has been responsible as one of two managing partners for the fate of the specialist in maintenance care, gardening and landscaping, and winter services.
As a trained landscape gardener, the son of company founder Wilfried Quathamer has learned his trade from scratch. He knows exactly what his 82 employees do day in and day out. "We try to always be one step ahead of the market. We have a broad setup and can react to developments in advance," says Markus Quathamer.
This strategy pays off. In the region around Oldenburg, Quathamer GmbH is the strongest partner in garden and landscape construction and is one of the largest market players in all of Northern Germany.
Development matters
The mainstay is the maintenance of green spaces and outdoor facilities. This includes garden and landscape construction and winter services. Public clients and commercial customers make up the bulk of the business relationships. This is supplemented by private customers.
Since 2010, Quathamer has been certified in the field of quality protection for sewer construction, and since 2017 in the area of maintenance and winter services. Markus Quathamer places great emphasis on the consistent further development of the company in many areas.
"Chemical plant protection is no longer permissible. We are now using thermal weed treatment," says the Managing Partner as an example. To achieve year-round employment for the employees, Quathamer has included winter services in his portfolio. "We run about 25 operations per winter period."
This includes, among other things, spreading services and clearing motorway entrances, roads, and sidewalks. Markus Quathamer knows what he owes to his employees. "We have a very strong team that stands behind the company. Employees who perform well are the key to success."

"We want to grow in productivity, not necessarily in volume."

Managing Partner
Markus Quathamer is working on developing his company into a top employer in northern Germany. He relies on people who can get things done. "We need not only engineers, but also people who can carry out the work." Against this background, the company advocates for training and sustainable employee retention.
