Perfectly Tailored
Interview with Caner Bilir, Managing Partner of DZT GmbH
Proper insulation in and around the house saves energy. For this and other uses, DZT GmbH in Wesel offers insulation materials and custom cuts. The family business focuses on sustainability in production: here investment is made, while customers are still cautious with investments.
Caner Bilir knew what he was getting into when he and his wife Yasemin bought the company DZT, established in 1995, two years ago. 'I was well-prepared since I knew the company and taught business management,' the entrepreneur shares. The couple entered the business during tumultuous times. 'The coronavirus period brought us more orders, as many ventilation systems were sold, for which mats made of rock wool are needed. We cut and laminated these,' reports Caner Bilir. However, the war in Ukraine led to a decline in sales. 'Now consolidation is happening again, but we still see some reluctance in investments. This is not unusual in economically uncertain times,' says Caner Bilir. On the other hand, he is investing in three new CNC cutting machines for all types of insulation materials. And he is optimistic about increasing the annual sales from the last recorded EUR 2.7 million to EUR 4 million. 20 employees are employed at the Wesel location.
Fast Delivery Thanks to Stockholding
DZT primarily offers insulation materials for roofs, interiors, facades, windows, doors, and shutter boxes, as well as bead fillers. Insulation materials for ventilation and air conditioning systems are also produced in Wesel. 'Here, we custom-manufacture the insulation in the correct thickness according to the drawings,' says Caner Bilir. His company convinces not only with high quality and a good price but also with short delivery times: 'We have large storage areas and pre-manufacture because we know the wishes of our major customers.' Most customers come from North Rhine-Westphalia, but also from the rest of Germany as well as from Holland, Belgium, and Switzerland. For Siemens, DZT has made special cuts for ventilation systems in locomotives for various countries. Environmental protection is a high priority. The new machines are particularly energy-saving and enable energy recycling. Waste is avoided as much as possible. Additionally, he tries to purchase in Germany where environmentally friendly production is practiced, explains the CEO.
Expansion and Internationalization
For Caner Bilir, it's clear: "I want to grow with the company and become more international." A key aspect of the expansion for him is the creation of jobs. Since he values the next generation, he has started training and currently employs three apprentices.
