With Tailwind into the Future of Mobility
Interview with Stefan Page, Managing Director of BusinessBike GmbH
Whether it's rising gas prices, congested city centers or the desire for more sustainability: The topic of mobility occupies politics, economy and society like seldom before. BusinessBike GmbH from Herzogenaurach offers a digital leasing model that convinces economically, ecologically, and health-wise. We spoke to managing director Stefan Page about the company's success factors, current developments in the bicycle industry, and the mobility of tomorrow.
Wirtschaftsforum: Mr. Page, what distinguishes BusinessBike from other providers in the market?
Stefan Page: Above all, our strong customer focus. We design our processes to be as simple as possible – for employers, employees, and specialist dealers. With our multiple award-winning real-time portal, users can comfortably choose their desired bicycle online or in store. The employer activates the leasing process digitally, the employee receives a code – and then the bike can be picked up from the dealer. It hardly gets any simpler than that. Moreover, we work with almost all bicycle dealers in Germany. This makes leasing available to our customers almost everywhere.
Wirtschaftsforum: How exactly does the full-service offering from BusinessBike work?
Stefan Page: We offer genuine 100% leasing – including insurance, maintenance, repair, and pickup after the term ends. That means: The customer has no hassle. No paperwork, no logistical challenges. When the lease expires, the bicycle is simply picked up at the employee's home. This worry-free package is what makes us special.
Wirtschaftsforum: What is the demand for company bicycle leasing – is the market stagnating or is it still growing?
Stefan Page: The demand continues to grow – especially among small and medium-sized enterprises and in public service. While large corporations have long recognized company bicycles as an attractive employee benefit, now many smaller businesses are following suit. The company bicycle combines several advantages: It promotes health, protects the environment, is tax-efficient – and completely free for companies.
Wirtschaftsforum: You talk about a vision. What values guide you at BusinessBike?
Stefan Page: We adhere to four central values: trust, sustainability, innovation, and partnership. For us, trust means transparency and fairness in dealing with customers and partners. We live sustainability not only through our product but also internally, for example through environmental certifications. Innovation means that we are constantly working on the development of our platform to offer the best digital services. And partnership is the basis of our close cooperation with specialized dealers.
Wirtschaftsforum: What are the next goals for BusinessBike?
Stefan Page: We want to continue expanding our position as one of the top 3 providers in the market and reach new target groups – such as self-employed individuals, small businesses, or public sector organizations. Technologically, we are investing a lot in the further development of our platform to ensure that all processes are intuitive on any device. In the long term, we also want to be a strategic partner for new mobility solutions – beyond mere bicycle leasing.
Wirtschaftsforum: Mr. Page, one final personal question: What motivates you in your role at BusinessBike?
Stefan Page: Honestly? The product itself. With bicycles, you do good for everyone – the environment, society, people's health. There are no losers in bicycling. This clarity, this sustainability motivate me every day. And it's fun to work on a real future solution for our mobility.
