"Energy is our Drive"
Interview with Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Wörz, Managing Director of edel Energietechnik GmbH
Few topics are currently occupying the economy more than sustainable and cost-efficient energy supply. The direction is clear: away from fossil fuels, towards sustainable alternatives - but the path there is anything but clear. Especially in the emergency power sector, where absolute reliability counts, the energy transition is only making slow progress. A pioneer in this field is edel Energietechnik GmbH from the Allgäu.
The history of edel Energietechnik dates back to the 1970s, when the company was originally founded as an agricultural machinery firm. "In the 1980s, we had already installed heat pumps in agricultural facilities—long before they became generally known," explains managing director Ulrich Wörz. This pioneering work laid the foundation for the company's current focus, which now concentrates on the generation of electricity and heat.
Turning necessity into a virtue
A central concern of edel Energietechnik is the integration of renewable energies into existing systems. "We focus on maximizing renewable energies, but we also know that fossil fuels must continue to play a role," emphasizes Ulrich Wörz. The company offers solutions that ensure renewable energies are always used first in electricity and heat production.
Hybrid Products
To meet this goal, edel Energietechnik develops hybrid products that can use both conventional and alternative fuels. These include diesel, heating oil, HVO (CO2-neutral alternative to diesel), biogas, and hydrogen. "Our latest cogeneration plants are hydrogen-capable and ready for the future," says Ulrich Wörz. "This flexibility allows us to adapt to changing market conditions and offer environmentally friendly solutions at the same time."
Secure emergency power supply
In the emergency power sector, edel Energietechnik is particularly active. The products are designed to function reliably even in crisis situations. "Our systems are indispensable for critical infrastructures such as hospitals and water supply facilities," emphasizes Ulrich Wörz. This reliability is crucial for providing energy quickly and efficiently in an emergency.
Looking into the Future
edel Energietechnik mainly serves the southern DACH region and has established a solid reputation among public institutions and industrial customers. "We believe in the innovative power of our products and are convinced that we can make a significant contribution to sustainable energy supply," concludes Ulrich Wörz. With a clear focus on sustainability and reliability, edel Energietechnik GmbH will continue to play an important role in the field of energy technology in the future.
