Networking becomes a competitive advantage: How AI, 5G, and IoT are transforming digital communication
Smartphones have long been more than just communication devices. They control smart homes, connect businesses, enable mobile working, and are increasingly becoming the access point for AI-supported applications. With the expansion of 5G, the initial developments around 6G, and the Internet of Things (IoT), the digital infrastructure is growing ever closer together. The technologies that will shape this development in the future will be showcased by IFA Berlin from September 4 to 8, 2026, in their Communication & Connectivity Show Area.
The Communication & Connectivity Show Area at IFA Berlin brings together manufacturers focused on this segment: international brands such as Belkin, Proove, Ugreen, Blackview, Baseus, Holdit, and Ideal of Sweden showcase new products related to smartphones, accessories, and digital connectivity. "Connectivity forms the foundation of our digital everyday life. Smartphones, accessories, networks, and smart devices are increasingly interlocking. With the Communication & Connectivity Show Area, we bring international brands together and demonstrate how people will live, work, and communicate in an increasingly digital and connected world," says Leif Lindner, CEO of IFA Management.
When Devices Think Together
The next stage of digital communication development does not come from individual innovations, but from the interplay of various technologies. AI analyzes data in real time, 5G ensures fast and stable connections, and the Internet of Things connects devices across company and industry boundaries. Moreover, upcoming 6G technologies are expected to enable new applications that can process data almost without delay. At the IFA, these developments are illustrated with concrete solutions. Highlights include modern routers and mobile hotspots, IoT hubs, gateways, cloud-based collaboration platforms, biometric security solutions, and portable translation devices. The range is complemented by applications from augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and satellite communication.
Smartphone Accessories Become a World of Their Own
A special attraction is the iZONE in Hall 5.2a. This curated area exclusively dedicates itself to smartphone accessories and additions, from cases and charging cables to apps, wearables, and other mobile technologies. IFA pursues a concept that particularly facilitates the trade show presence for smaller and international brands: IFA handles all the booth construction. Exhibitors need only bring their products to Berlin and benefit from a uniform presence within the iZONE. A clearly structured guidance system directs visitors specifically through the exhibition area, highlighting the products on display.
Platform for the Next Generation of Digital Communication
Communication, networking, and data infrastructure are increasingly converging, creating the foundation for new applications in business and everyday life. Whether it's smart end devices, powerful mobile networks, or AI-powered services: the technologies of tomorrow are emerging where hardware, software, and connectivity come together. With the Communication & Connectivity Show Area, IFA Berlin demonstrates how this development is already taking shape today. It makes visible which innovations will shape digital communication in the future – and what opportunities arise from this for manufacturers, businesses, and consumers.
