Wear and tear are a fact of life in agriculture. Wet and muddy conditions make breakdowns inevitable and a rapid and reliable supply of spare parts critical. Ökoprofi GmbH has established itself as a leading name in the procurement of spare parts for agriculture, industry, and trade. Thanks to its over 25 years of experience, the company excels in providing high-quality products at competitive prices, leveraging international sourcing to meet the diverse needs of its clientele who its supports with an extensive product range permanently on stock and a commitment to round-the-clock customer service.

Founded in 2002, Ökoprofi started with just two employees. They had identified a gap in the market for an online platform catering to farmers’ spare parts needs. “We began with a small catalogue and have since expanded significantly,” states the founder and Managing Director Johann Ebner, reflecting on the company’s growth trajectory. The initial catalogue featured just 50 pages, but today, Ökoprofi boasts a main catalogue of approximately 1,200 pages, listing over 55,000 different items sourced from 450 suppliers worldwide.

Trading on expertise

Johann Ebner brought a significant background in wholesale and procurement to the new venture. “Before starting Ökoprofi, I was the purchasing manager for a large spare parts trading company,” recalls the entrepreneur. “I was able to leverage my extensive contacts and knowledge of the industry. In particular it allowed me to fill a significant gap in the market. When we started nearly 25 years ago, there was a noticeable lack of accessible resources for sourcing replacement parts for agricultural machinery. Our online platform was the eagerly awaited answer.”

Expanding product range

Ökoprofi’s product range has evolved considerably since its inception. Initially focused on machine parts, the company has diversified into tools, standard parts, and bearings. “Our goal is to offer around 300,000 different parts in the future,” notes Johann Ebner, describing his strategic vision to become a one-stop shop for all agricultural needs. “This expansion is not just about quantity; it’s also about quality and service.”

Efficient logistics system

Logistics is a cornerstone of Ökoprofi’s success. The company operates from a 9,000 m2 warehouse, processing an average of 1,000 packages daily. “93% of our orders are shipped, with only 7% being picked up in person,” Johann Ebner explains. This efficient system ensures that customers receive their orders promptly, with deliveries typically arriving the next day for orders placed before 3 pm.

Customer-centric approach

Ökoprofi prides itself on its customer service. The company has a dedicated hotline staffed by knowledgeable personnel, ensuring that customers can easily reach out for assistance. “The future of online commerce is not just about having a vast selection; it’s about providing exceptional service,” emphasizes Johann Ebner. This commitment to customer care sets Ökoprofi apart in a competitive market.

Adapting to technological changes

As technology evolves, so does Ökoprofi. The company employs a sophisticated web shop that integrates seamlessly with its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. This integration allows for real-time updates on inventory and pricing, enhancing the overall customer experience. “We utilize AI to ensure competitive pricing and efficient operations,” Johann Ebner shares, highlighting the company’s forward-thinking approach.

Sustainability efforts

Sustainability is increasingly important in today’s business landscape. Ökoprofi is mindful of its environmental impact, utilizing a photovoltaic system for its facilities and heating with biomass. “While we can’t control transportation emissions, we strive to minimize our footprint in other areas,” Johann Ebner states. This commitment to sustainability resonates with customers who prioritize eco-friendly practices.

A family business culture

Ökoprofi operates as a family-run business, fostering a culture of openness and support among its employees. “The door is always open for our staff to discuss any issues, personal or professional,” Johann Ebner notes. This approach not only enhances employee satisfaction but also contributes to a positive work environment, which is reflected in the company’s service quality.

Future growth aspirations

Looking ahead, Ökoprofi aims to expand its product range and enhance its market presence. The founder confirms plans to maintain the company’s base of operations in Schlatt while exploring opportunities for growth. “We want to remain a strong player in Europe, but we are also open to customers from around the globe,” he explains. This global perspective positions Ökoprofi for continued success in the international market.

Navigating challenges

The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges for many businesses, but Ökoprofi adapted successfully. The shift to online platforms increased its customer base, and its substantial inventory allowed it to meet demand effectively. “We were able to gain many new customers during the pandemic because we had the stock and the capacity to deliver,” Johann Ebner remarks.

Emphasizing Quality and Service

Quality is non-negotiable at Ökoprofi. The company is committed to providing products that meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards. “We focus on sourcing parts from reputable manufacturers to ensure our customers receive the best,” Johann Ebner states. This dedication to quality, combined with competitive pricing, makes Ökoprofi a reliable choice for customers.

A Trusted Partner

Ökoprofi GmbH exemplifies what it means to be a trusted partner in the spare parts industry. With a robust history, a commitment to customer service, and a focus on quality, the company is well-positioned for future growth. As it continues to expand its offerings and enhance logistics capabilities, Ökoprofi remains dedicated to serving its customers. “Whether you are a farmer in Austria or a business in Africa, Ökoprofi is ready to meet your spare parts needs with professionalism and care,” concludes Johann Ebner.
