Humans and the environment are burdened by many factors. Harmful emissions as well as excessive noise. The sophisticated exhaust systems from the Dutch Discom B.V. reduce noise and emissions to a minimum. Thus, the research and innovation-driven company from Alblasserdam makes an important contribution to sustainability. In addition to standard products, Discom also develops individual, customer-specific solutions.

Given the current environmental awareness, every building block towards a more sustainable world plays an important role. One of them is formed by the products of Discom B.V. The exhaust systems from the ISO 9001 certified company reduce the emission of harmful emissions by up to 98%. 'We develop and manufacture exhaust systems for the energy sector, maritime applications, and industry,' explains Anneke van Heiningen, who leads the company together with her colleagues Paul Groeneweg and Michael van Wijk. 'In addition, we produce silencers and exhaust systems for all markets except the automotive and motorcycle industries. Our range extends from the standard silencer to the complete water-cooled exhaust system with piping, suspension, cladding, and everything else that goes with it.' 'We have a whole range of standard solutions that we can deliver from stock,' adds Paul Groeneweg.

"We also develop and build custom products for large OEMs, which are used in electric and diesel locomotives as well as in compressors and generators." Currently, Discom is also researching systems for alternative fuels.

Manufacturing in Romania

Discom was founded in 1978 with a focus on installing combustion engines in inland vessels. Later, exhaust systems were developed, noise protection systems for engines and exhaust systems in the 1990s, and subsequently complete exhaust systems. In addition to its headquarters in Alblasserdam, where 35 employees work, Discom also maintains a production site in Romania. In total, the company employs around 100 people. Discom supplies OEM customers in the Benelux countries and in Germany. About 70% of its revenue is generated outside the Netherlands. "Account Managers are responsible for sales," explains Michael van Wijk.

"Some orders are generated through recommendations, and we also work with agents." Furthermore, Discom is present on the internet, on social media, and at trade fairs such as SMM, Europort, and Maritime Industry. Quality, transparency, solution orientation, and fairness contribute to Discom's success, which also plans to focus on continuity and organic growth in the coming years.
