Clearly committed – in air, performance and attitude

Interview with Ansgar Schöne, Managing Director of Filter-Müller GmbH

Clean air is more than just a comfort factor – it is the basis for health, efficiency, and sustainable productivity. Whether in production environments, data centers, or complex industrial facilities: filtration ensures that processes run safely, reliably, and energy-efficiently. In this demanding environment, Filter-Müller GmbH from Berlin has established itself as a reliable partner. For over four decades, the company has stood for quality, foresight, and customer proximity – with technical precision, short decision-making paths, and a clear stance.

What started in 1978 as a small trading business has developed under the leadership of Ansgar Schöne into a modern family-run company with its own production. "You could almost say I was born into the company," says Schöne, who has been active in the family business since 2009. From 2014, he gradually took on more responsibility – since July 2024 he has been leading the company as the sole managing partner. The evolution into today's GmbH (limited liability company) was not a break but an expression of continuity and future orientation. "We wanted to transform the grown structure into a modern, stable form," explains Ansgar Schöne.

Filtration expertise with system and responsibility

Filter-Müller stands for tailor-made industrial filter solutions that combine technical precision, economic efficiency, and sustainability. The company supports its customers along the entire process chain – from planning through selection to the integration of individual filtration systems into industrial applications. A key success factor is its own production, which was established from strategic conviction. "We wanted to control quality, delivery times, and flexibility ourselves – that was a conscious decision," says Ansgar Schöne. The combination of a large warehouse in Berlin and European manufacturing in Poland today ensures Filter-Müller high delivery reliability and responsiveness – even in times of disrupted supply chains. While many competitors rely on standard products and external suppliers, Filter-Müller impresses with its technical depth, expert advice, and genuine system competence. The company develops energy-efficient filter concepts that conserve resources while ensuring the highest air purity standards. Thus, durable solutions are created that set benchmarks in terms of performance, sustainability, and reliability. As part of the ISO and environmental certification, logistics have also been consistently optimized: Route planning and transport processes are now CO2-reduced and thus actively contribute to sustainable business practices. Standard filters are provided directly from stock in Berlin, and delivery throughout the entire DACH region is handled by proven freight forwarders and logistics partners like DHL and GLS – fast, precise, and reliable.

Speed and Proximity as Core Brand Values

"Speed is not just a buzzword for us, but part of our self-image," emphasizes Ansgar Schöne. Short distances, direct decisions, and clear responsibilities make it possible to implement individual customer wishes in the shortest possible time. Many long-term partners appreciate this reliability as well as the personal consultation. "People buy from people – this also applies in the technical field," says the managing director. This personal approach, combined with technical precision, forms the core of the corporate culture at Filter-Müller.

Digitalization with Foresight

Digitalization plays a supportive role at Filter-Müller: It ensures smooth processes and clear structures – from inventory management to order control. "Digital processes help us work faster and more transparently, so we can focus entirely on what's essential – our filtration expertise," explains Ansgar Schöne. Despite modern systems, personal contact remains crucial. "Customer relationships thrive on exchange – and that hasn't changed in the digital age."

Collaboration as Strength

Filter-Müller is a family business that embodies responsibility – for its employees, its partners, and its customers. Trust, reliability, and mutual respect characterize the cooperation. "It's not about benefits, but about attitude," says Ansgar Schöne. "It's about valuing people and sharing responsibility together." Many employees have been with the company for years and pass their knowledge on to the next generation. This grown expertise is an essential part of the quality for which Filter-Müller stands. Decisions are made together, ideas are taken seriously – and success is understood as a collective achievement.

Thinking About the Future, Expanding Competencies

While Filter-Müller has firmly established itself in traditional industrial sectors, it increasingly looks to the future. The company sees great potential in ventilating data centers and in public transportation, where modern mobility concepts pose new demands on air quality and filtration. Additionally, the growing significance of energy and environmental technology offers new opportunities for innovative filtration solutions – such as exhaust air cleaning, particulate removal, or resource-saving recycling systems. In machinery and plant engineering, Filter-Müller deliberately expands its competencies: Customized filtration systems are becoming an integral part of modern production processes. Another future area is corrosion protection, in which Filter-Müller deepens its technical expertise. By combining filtration and preventive maintenance, industrial plants are operated more efficiently, require less maintenance, and are more environmentally friendly in the long term. The company focuses on organic growth and targeted collaborations. New fields of expertise are created through experience transfer, strategic partnerships, and continuous expansion of technical know-how. "Our experience is the foundation on which we explore new applications and markets," emphasizes Ansgar Schöne. "We aim to create solutions that combine efficiency, sustainability, and technical excellence."

Tradition and Future in Balance

Reliability, foresight, and responsibility have characterized Filter-Müller since its founding. Ansgar Schöne leads the company in the second generation with the goal of preserving proven methods and boldly developing new ones. "Our strength lies in understanding change as part of our development," he says. The company grows from its own efforts, yet remains family-oriented and down-to-earth. "I hope one of my children will continue the company one day. This perspective motivates me to position Filter-Müller for long-term viability." With this attitude – technologically precise, humanly committed, and strategically foresighted – Filter-Müller stands for what makes the German middle class strong: entrepreneurial responsibility, lived quality, and real expertise – clearly committed in air, performance, and stance.
