The logistics industry is a dynamic field that is constantly changing. Amid these changes, Gübau Logistics GmbH, a company with a long tradition based in Wolfsburg, has recently taken a significant step in its corporate history. With the acquisition by L.I.T. AG, the Gübau Group will not only strengthen its market position in the field of automotive logistics but will also open up new synergies and growth opportunities.

The history of Gübau dates back to 1948, when the company was founded as a classic transport company. 'The name Gübau was created as an abbreviation for goods and building materials transport,' explains Frank Plinke, Managing Director of Gübau Logistics GmbH. 'Over 75 years and three family generations, we have earned our reputation for reliability and continuity.' This tradition is a key part of the company identity and forms the basis for future development.

Turning a New Chapter

With the acquisition by L.I.T. AG in 2023, Gübau has taken a significant step towards the future. "The integration into the L.I.T. Group was an important process that has strengthened us geographically and brought in new expertise," says Frank Plinke. The acquisition was made as a strategic decision to secure the company's succession situation and ensure stability for employees and customers.

A Flexible Offering

In recent years, Gübau has specialized in automotive logistics, offering both transportation and logistics services. "We are particularly active in the areas of just-in-time traffic and loop traffic," explains Claas Durach, Managing Director of L.I.T. AG. "With our broad lineup, we can offer everything from the smallest package to a complete truckload."

Resilient through Broad Setup

The diversification of the service portfolio has proven advantageous, especially in turbulent times. "The last few years have been challenging due to multiple crises, but we were able to survive in the market due to our resilience and flexibility," says Frank Plinke. This agility allows Gübau to quickly respond to changes in the industry and seize new business opportunities.

Sustainability and E-Mobility

A forward-looking topic that is increasingly shaping the logistics industry is sustainability. Gübau has already taken measures to work in a more environmentally friendly manner. "We are deeply engaged with e-mobility and hydrogen technologies," explains Frank Plinke. The company has installed a photovoltaic system on its logistics properties and plans to further expand e-mobility in its fleet.

Further Reducing the CO2 Footprint

"We are convinced that through sustainable solutions, we can not only reduce our CO2 footprint but also increase the satisfaction of our customers," adds Claas Durach. The challenges associated with transitioning to sustainable transport solutions are not to be underestimated, but Gübau is ready to tackle these and develop innovative approaches.

Strong Employee Retention

The employees are the heart of Gübau. "We place great importance on our drivers coming home every day," emphasizes Frank Plinke. This philosophy helps to minimize turnover and form a strong team. Despite the challenges of recruiting skilled workers, the company has taken various measures to attract new talent. "We use social media, go to driving schools, and offer attractive working conditions," Frank Plinke further explains.

Leveraging the Advantages of the Group

Being part of the L.I.T. Group also offers advantages in recruiting personnel. "We can draw on internal resources to bridge temporary bottlenecks," explains Durach. This flexibility is crucial in order to meet the increasing demands of the industry.

Future-Oriented Strategies

Gübau has clear goals for the future. "Securing the location in Wolfsburg is our top priority," says Frank Plinke. At the same time, the service portfolio is to be expanded. "We want to be active not only in the automotive sector but also in other industries," adds Claas Durach.

This strategy aims to reduce dependence on individual industries and create new growth opportunities. Integration into the L.I.T. Group also opens up possibilities for international expansion. "We already see potential to operate beyond Wolfsburg and to penetrate new markets," explains Claas Durach. "Through this, we also want to continue playing a key role in the logistics landscape in the coming years and to maintain our reputation for quality and reliability."
