Innovative Manufacturing for Demanding Markets
Interview with Anne Stegkemper, Sales Director of Ratioplast Electronics H. Wiedemann GmbH
Supposedly interchangeable products and standard solutions quickly reach their limits in many industries. This is exactly where Ratioplast Electronics H. Wiedemann GmbH comes in, offering a unique manufacturing depth and customized solutions tailored to the specific requirements of their customers. Sales Director Anne Stegkemper discussed the challenges of the German manufacturing industry and the flexible production of customer-specific connectors with Wirtschaftsforum.
Anne Stegkemper describes the development of Ratioplast Electronics H. Wiedemann GmbH as a successful combination of deep-rooted tradition and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit. The company specializes in the production of customer-specific connectors, plastic parts, and tools, which are used in a variety of industries. "Our products may seem interchangeable at first glance, but what really sets us apart is our enormous depth of production," explains Anne Stegkemper. This ability to handle nearly all production processes internally significantly distinguishes Ratioplast Electronics from many competitors who often rely on external suppliers.
A Piece of Company History
Founded in 1966, Ratioplast Electronics H. Wiedemann GmbH has continuously evolved over the decades, always keeping its roots in mind. By acquiring CS Components GmbH in 2016, the company was able to further drive its expansion and diversification. The headquarters of Ratioplast Electronics is located in Lübbecke, complemented by a branch in Bavaria, which expands the company's sales network. Anne Stegkemper originally wanted to join the police, but in the end, like her brother, she joined the family business. This decision was not always obvious, as both were not ingrained in the company from the beginning, as is often the case in family businesses. Since 2014, she has been a part of Ratioplast Electronics and has become a key figure in sales management.
Cost Pressure Demands New Production Strategies
In recent years, Ratioplast Electronics has faced numerous challenges, particularly due to the steadily increasing production costs in Germany. "Manufacturing in this country will only have a future if production processes are automated," says Anne Stegkemper. This statement reflects the reality many German companies are facing today: increasing cost pressures are forcing them to rethink their production strategies. However, not all products from Ratioplast Electronics are suitable for complete automation, prompting the company to pursue a balanced approach. The company continues to rely on a mix of in-house production and strategic partnerships with international manufacturing companies, especially in Eastern Europe and the Far East. "For us, it is important to maintain control over critical production steps to ensure the quality of our products, while at the same time saving costs and working more efficiently through international cooperation," explains Anne Stegkemper. This dual strategy allows Ratioplast Electronics to master the challenging balancing act between high quality and cost efficiency. Another crucial factor that distinguishes the company is its flexibility and customer orientation. "We work very customer-oriented and have incredibly flat hierarchies. This allows us to respond quickly and flexibly to the needs of our customers," emphasizes Anne Stegkemper. These characteristics have helped Ratioplast Electronics establish itself as a trustworthy partner in various industries, especially in the automotive and medical technology sectors, where high precision and reliability are required.
Well Prepared for the Coming Years
In the field of digitalization, Ratioplast Electronics has made significant progress over the past few years and has established itself as a pioneer among medium-sized companies. "Our accounting and many other processes are now completely digitalized. We are proud of how far we have come in this area," says Anne Stegkemper. This digital transformation enables the company to respond more efficiently and quickly to market changes. Clear goals have also been defined for the coming years: Expanding the sales force and strengthening international business are central parts of the strategy. Additionally, the transfer of the company to the next generation is of great relevance. "Succession is an important issue, especially in such a challenging economic situation as we are experiencing today," emphasizes Anne Stegkemper. Despite the challenges that lie ahead for Ratioplast Electronics, Anne Stegkemper looks to the future with confidence. "We carefully examine our options and develop plans that will help us remain competitive in a constantly changing market environment," she explains. The past shows that the company has always been able to adapt and grow – a capability that is to be continued in the future. With this determination and a clear focus on customer-specific solutions, Ratioplast Electronics confidently moves into the coming years.
