Civil Engineering with the Latest Technology
Interview with Jonas Pitz, Managing Director of REGAB GmbH
Thanks to continuous investment in modern machinery and equipment, REGAB GmbH from Herxheim has developed into a leading company in classical civil engineering. Managing Director Jonas Pitz discusses with Wirtschaftsforum how the use of the latest technology determines the company's innovative strength and enables comprehensive solutions in road and civil engineering.
The history of REGAB began in the 1990s with small excavator works. The expansion of the machinery and vehicle fleet accompanied the company's growth. The purchase of a suction excavator in 2016 enabled it to handle even the most difficult tasks gently and precisely, giving it a significant innovation lead. "Since the beginning of last year, we have had a trench cutter," adds Jonas Pitz, who has been with the company since 2017 and the managing director since 2021. "REGAB has an extensive machinery and vehicle fleet, which is always kept up to date."
Values that convince
With about 50 employees and an annual turnover of approximately eight million EUR, REGAB has established a stable position in the region. When company founder Stefan Müller retired in 2021 due to age reasons, the business was sold to shareholders from the supply industry. "Our values have remained those of a family-owned company," emphasizes Jonas Pitz. "We work quickly, cleanly, and reliably. Our customers appreciate our flexibility and punctuality. Meeting agreed requirements is our top priority." The manager is aware of how important the employees are in achieving this standard: "Our people are our capital, the company would be nothing without them. The satisfaction of my team is very close to my heart. We have flat hierarchies, and we work well and constructively together."
Comprehensive Services
The REGAB portfolio includes all activities in civil and road construction. These include earthworks, landscaping, excavation, and disposal services for private customers, public authorities, and companies. In municipal civil engineering, the company works closely with supply and disposal companies, offering services around construction. These include the expansion and replacement as well as the repair of pipelines for sewage, water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications. "We regularly participate in tenders to acquire new projects," adds the manager. "A stronger online presence is being prepared to position ourselves more clearly and expand the customer portfolio in the next one to two years."
Contemporary Developments
At REGAB, digitalization has made its way not only into the office. "We use a digitized measurement program, and our site managers are equipped with smartpads," emphasizes Jonas Pitz. "Sustainability is also a major issue for us. We use earth rockets for displacement method work. The new suction excavator operates with bio-hydraulics and can be used in sensitive areas, such as water protection zones."
Success Creates Confidence
The success of REGAB, according to the managing director, is due to planning that involves the customers, a comprehensive service package, and the reliable handover of defect-free construction sites. Motivated by the possibilities of civil engineering, Jonas Pitz aims to maintain and expand REGAB's leading position. "We are focusing on slow and healthy growth, increased digitalization and sustainability, as well as achieving more certifications," he summarizes. "To this end, we are looking for new, motivated employees who fit into the team and are ready to face the diverse tasks." As an innovative and customer-oriented civil engineering company, distinguished by its employees, service, and technology, REGAB is looking forward to the next few years with confidence.
