INTERGEO 2026: These Highlights Visitors Should Keep an Eye on in Munich
From September 15 to 17, 2026, Munich will become the gathering place for the international geo-industry. INTERGEO brings together companies, startups, administration, academia, and users from geodesy, geoinformation, land management, and digitization. This year, the focus is especially on Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, Reality Capturing, BIM, and the question of how geodata can be practically implemented in infrastructure, administration, real estate, and climate adaptation.
In 2026, the event will focus more on applications that visitors can directly experience. Expo, Conference, stage program, and live demonstrations will be more closely interconnected. Particularly, Reality Capturing will have significantly more space with a new experience area.

Reality Capturing becomes live experience
In Hall C5, the Reality Capturing Experience Parc shows live what Mobile Mapping, Laser Scanning, and Photogrammetry can do in digital existing condition documentation. Those wanting to test technologies before purchasing will find an opportunity here. The kickoff is by Jack Dangermond, founder and president of Esri, with a keynote on GIS and connected geospatial data. Several sessions will focus on GeoAI: How Artificial Intelligence evaluates spatial data and can support decisions in administration, business, and infrastructure, shown through concrete examples. Digital Twins and BIM are other focal points, with projects from urban development, infrastructure planning, and permitting processes. The Real Estate Lab connects geodata, real estate prices, and AI. At the Main Stage and in the Application Dome, technological trends meet practical implementation examples. In the Start-up Area and at the GeoCampus, young companies and research institutions introduce new approaches. One of the most notable focuses in 2026 is Reality Capturing. In Hall C5, with the new Reality Capturing Experience Parc, an area is being created where visitors can not only see but also directly compare different technologies. Mobile Mapping, Laser Scanning, and Photogrammetry will demonstrate how buildings, infrastructure, or other real environments are digitally captured and transformed into usable data models. Practical demonstrations will make applications in construction, real estate, industry, administration, and urban development visible. The area is complemented by the Reality Capture Hub and the Application Dome, making a technological change tangible. The real question today is no longer how much data can be captured. What matters is how quickly and reliably information can be generated from it, which can actually be used for planning, operation, or decisions.
AI changes the work with geodata
Artificial Intelligence is one of the major topics of the Conference. Several agenda items deal with GeoAI and the question of how AI can recognize spatial relationships and derive new insights from large geospatial data repositories. The applications range from remote sensing and infrastructure to administration and municipal planning. It is about technical possibilities and concrete practical examples. This connection will be particularly interesting for authorities and businesses. Geodata are already available in large quantities many places. AI can help to automatically detect changes, link information, or speed up decision-making processes. On September 16, the morning program is open to all conference participants for the first time. Geodata are no longer limited to classic surveying tasks.
