Efficient Anomaly Detection for the Industry
Interview with Korbinian Hermann, Managing Director of CSP GmbH & Co. KG
In the competitive manufacturing industry, quality assurance is of crucial importance. CSP GmbH & Co. KG assists companies in optimizing their production processes through innovative solutions for monitoring and documenting quality standards. With the introduction of their new software solution for anomaly detection, Curve Anomaly AI, CSP has created another powerful tool that enables companies to further improve their production processes and significantly enhance product quality.
CSP was founded over 30 years ago and has its roots in the automotive industry. The location in Großköllnbach, near Dingolfing, enables close cooperation with major car manufacturers such as BMW. CEO Korbinian Hermann, who has been with CSP for over 13 years, emphasizes: 'CSP has grown to 120 employees in recent years. This development is not only due to the increasing demand for quality management solutions, but also to the continuous improvement of our products and services.'
Constantly Growing Portfolio
CSP offers a comprehensive portfolio that is not limited to the automotive industry but also finds application in other sectors. The portfolio includes solutions like IPM, which aims at error prevention and a zero-defect strategy, as well as the worker assistance system PG, which supports production workers with intuitive instructions and real-time feedback in reducing errors and increasing efficiency. With QS-Torque, CSP offers comprehensive tool and process audits, while Chronos ensures audit-proof data archiving. 'Our solutions help to capture and store the entire digital life record of a product, which is crucial for quality assurance and product liability,' the CEO explains. 'All major German car brands use CSP products, which speaks to the quality and reliability of our solutions.'
Detection of Hidden Outliers in OK-Curves with Curve Anomaly AI
The latest product in the CSP portfolio is Curve Anomaly AI, an innovative AI solution that CSP introduced on October 1, 2024, focusing on the analysis of OK-classified screw curves. "In today's manufacturing landscape, it is crucial that we particularly devote ourselves to the curves already classified as OK," explains Korbinian Hermann. "Our AI technology systematically searches all OK-classified curves for outliers. Once it finds them, it marks these curves as False-Positives – they were mistakenly classified as OK. Detecting these hidden anomalies is the task of Curve Anomaly AI." The AI has been trained with quality and production data from over 30 years to detect even the slightest deviations in seemingly flawless curves.
Precise Post-Control of OK Curves
The benefits of Curve Anomaly AI are significant. "Our AI technology acts as an additional quality assurance measure, exclusively re-examining curves already classified as OK," explains Hermann. "The AI assists our experts by specifically pointing out anomalies in seemingly flaw-free curves." With Curve Anomaly AI, quality assurance through this focused review of already approved curves is not only easier but also more precise, reliable, and effective, minimizing production failures and quality defects. Additionally, the automation of data analysis leads to a significant reduction in manual interventions, saving valuable resources. "Employees can focus on more complex tasks while the AI takes over routine analyses," says the CEO. Another crucial aspect is the continuous monitoring of production processes, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained. "Our products must always meet customer expectations," emphasizes Korbinian Hermann.
Internationally on a Growth Path
CSP sees great potential in international expansion and plans to expand its presence in various industries.
"The demand for our innovative solutions will continue to rise," the CEO is certain. The company has already taken initial steps towards a stronger international collaboration, particularly through partnerships with companies in Romania.
A Strong Corporate Culture
CSP places great value on a positive corporate culture that fosters flexibility and trust. Employees can flexibly arrange their working hours. "It is particularly important to us that we facilitate the balance between work and family," explains Korbinian Hermann. Since the coronavirus pandemic, working from home has been increasingly promoted, and the company has introduced a three-two-one rule, which provides for three days of home office, two days of office work, and one day in the office with the team.
Development Opportunities
Employee development also plays a central role. Many of the software developers at CSP have advanced internally and are now taking on responsibilities in various product areas. The CEO emphasizes: "Team collaboration and the exchange between departments are crucial for the company’s success."
Well Positioned for the Future
With the introduction of Curve Anomaly AI and the continuous development of products, CSP is well positioned to meet the challenges of the future. Korbinian Hermann concludes with the conviction: "The combination of innovative technologies and a strong corporate culture is the key to further growth and success of CSP."
