Switchgears play a central role in the professional control of machines and systems – and their demand is increasing in the face of growing digitization and automation. ELMEKO GmbH + Co. KG from Liebenscheid is not only a sought-after expert in electromechanical components for switchgear technology but has also made a name for itself with all-round carefree packages for switchgear construction.

ELMEKO was founded in 2004 and is a specialist in the manufacturing, development, and global distribution of components for electrical cabinet air conditioning, lighting, and accessories. Core products are cabinet lights, Peltier cooling units, and dehumidifiers. Each product stands for quality made in Germany – and for providing added value to customers. Each year, ELMEKO launches new products that are presented at trade fairs such as All about Automation and generate excitement. "Through innovations, we become interesting for the market," says Sales Manager Volker Wisser, "and can acquire new customers."

Growth Against the Trend

The dynamic development shows how quickly ELMEKO became interesting. Founded in 2004 as a trading company, ELMEKO began manufacturing just a few years later.

A hall and an office building were constructed, followed shortly by another hall. "Our order books have been full in the past and still are. In recent years, despite the difficult economic situation, we have been able to gain market shares and continuously develop," says Volker Wisser. "2024 was a very good year; this year the order situation is even better." Volker Wisser, who worked for many years as a sales manager at a major market competitor and was able to build a good network, has strategically expanded the sales channels; for example, with the electrical wholesale trade. "We gain about 200 new customers every year." Innovations such as lights with particularly high brightness and a wide voltage range from 24 volts to 265 volts AC/DC make a difference. The same applies to low-maintenance Peltier cooling devices with an exceptionally long lifespan, which reliably cool and heat even under extreme conditions. "Behind the products is a very motivated team," emphasizes Volker Wisser. "Good employees, good developers who think ahead, are crucial for us."

Ready for positive surprises

ELMEKO now employs 25 people; sales have more than doubled in recent years. It is a small team that stands for great flexibility and is to continue growing sensibly and healthily. "We look forward to the future with optimism and are convinced that we can continue our growth trajectory," says Volker Wisser. "To achieve this, we will further develop and optimize our products – and positively surprise our customers."
