As a subsidiary of Bechtle AG, PSB GmbH comes into play whenever customized PC solutions are required. How individual IT hardware sometimes really needs to be in the industrial context and why the company's high production capacity continuously surprises its customers was explained by Managing Director Andreas Schreitmüller in the interview.

"One can imagine the IT landscape as a huge puzzle. As the largest IT system house in Germany, Bechtle AG provides many of these puzzle pieces - and one of them is the customer-specific IT engineering, for which we are responsible," summarizes Andreas Schreitmüller, Managing Director of PSB GmbH, describing his company's relationship with the MDAX-listed parent corporation to which it has belonged for 21 years.

PSB primarily sees itself as an expert for customized PC solutions in an industrial context; the individual adjustments range from compact cases with a capacity of less than one liter, which are not offered by standard manufacturers, to water-cooled systems or computers that must operate faultlessly even in tropical heat. "One of our customers, for example, shreds carbon plates, a process that generates very aggressive dust. If this dust were pulled through a regular case with the cooling air, the electronics of the PC would soon be destroyed, as the sensitive components would be worn away by the highly abrasive substances." The ultimate solutions, which are developed in close cooperation with the customers, are as individual as the technical requirements are diverse - and PSB also stands out for its flexibility in terms of quantity: "Some products are needed in only a few copies; however, some large customers sometimes take several thousand units."

Manufacturing intensity will increase

In addition to omnipresent IT topics such as IIoT and AI, from which PSB expects further important impulses, the company also sees Edge-Computing as a central growth market, while Rugged PCs, as particularly hardened devices, are likely to experience increasing demand especially in the Defense and Security sector.

"I believe that we can further sharpen our customizing capabilities in the coming years and at the same time further expand our manufacturing intensity - as a manufacturing company, we not only develop solutions but also physically produce our products in our house. When our customers visit us, they are often surprised at how large our production capacities actually are - and then often inquire whether we can also engage in related fields for them, such as IT-related switchgear construction. We happily accept these offers, after all, we are also extremely flexible in our range of services," explains Andreas Schreitmüller, and wants to continue to resemble a speedboat with the resources of a corporation in the background: "I like to scale things up to the maximum - that is and remains my passion!"
