Individuality Takes Shape
Interview with Konrad Michalek, Managing Director and Anja Michalek, Commercial Director of Michalek Wohntraum GmbH
The dream of owning one's own home is deeply rooted in the imagination of many people. However, realizing it is becoming increasingly difficult. High property prices, construction costs, and interest rates make it especially hard for young families to acquire a home. Michalek Wohntraum GmbH in Heilbronn still manages to make dreams come true: thanks to experience, expertise, and a strong franchise partner at their side.
Michalek Wohntraum is a classic family business that has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past few years – from being a provider of standard houses to a system provider that offers homes with a large scope for individualisation. A change that is to be further accelerated. "In the past ten years, we have experienced a roller coaster of emotions," says Anja Michalek, commercial director and daughter of managing director Konrad Michalek. "There was a construction boom, but also a crash, there were times of waiting and tension. At peak times, we built 80 houses a year in the entry-level segment. With rising interest rates, demand fell, but since autumn 2024, it has been sharply rising again. In addition to the entry-level segment, we are increasingly addressing a target group that prefers individual solutions but does not want to miss out on the security of a fixed price."
Regional, individual, and humane
Michalek is a well-known entity in the region. The company is characterized not only by more than 500 houses in the region but especially by the human component associated with it. The company places great importance on being ‘pleasantly different from everyone else’.
"Humanity plays a major role from the first contact, from the idea to the implementation and beyond," emphasizes Anja Michalek. "Our name stands for transparent consulting processes; we go into great depth and talk about all construction costs and incidental construction costs. In the end, there are no nasty surprises." Customers appreciate this - the high customer satisfaction is evident in positive reviews and a trusting cooperation that lasts beyond the construction period. Last but not least, they benefit from the partnership with Town & Country Haus. "Thanks to Town & Country, we can pass on many securities to the customers," says Anja Michalek. "At the same time, we are the local contact on site and accompany the customer from start to finish."
Building and Making People Happy
Michalek continues to focus on solid construction – a high-quality and sustainable building method that should remain a focal point in the future, since this is where the main expertise lies. Today, the company has ten employees and turns over 16 million EUR. In the future, there could be even more – they aim to grow healthily, build 40 to 50 houses per year and thus continue to make people happy who have realized their dream of owning their own home. For Anja Michalek, who will take over the company, this is the most beautiful aspect of the work.
