Successful Quartet on a Growth Path

Over the years, it has become a success story and Christian Jung, founder and CEO of Innopha GmbH, names the reasons for this: "We operate as a family business with a simple philosophy: the best possible advice, a good price-performance ratio, and quick response times. Moreover, our customers should feel acknowledged by us." Therefore, personal interaction is highly valued at Innopha. Thus, major customers are visited once or twice a year, and customers always find a sympathetic ear over the phone.

Primarily Private Label

"With our products and services, we offer our customers a complete program for their brand," promises Christian Jung. "This starts with the idea and development and extends to composition and manufacturing all the way to bottling, packaging, and labeling." The program includes supplements, minerals, and single feed ingredients, herbs, herbal blends and juices, as well as products for coat, skin, hoof, joint, and muscle care. Other items include biocidal products, treats, as well as oils and liquids. Innopha focuses on horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and small rodents. "We have a variety of standard formulations in the program and can customize these according to our customers' wishes," explains Maximilian Jung.

Consistently Expanding

"In 1989, I started out with five products in Kaufering, Bavaria," says Christian Jung. "In 1992, we moved to Saarland, where we produced in a converted barn. In 2005, we saw our first major expansion and moved to a building with larger office, manufacturing, and storage capacities." Another milestone in the company's history was in 2014, with the construction of a new warehouse with about 1,000 pallet spaces, followed by a new hall for picking and shipping in 2016. Five years later – in 2020 – a second company site with offices, production, and storage was occupied in the Wadern business park. "In the same year, Max also joined the company," explains Christian Jung. "He has primarily taken care of this new location on his own. Since then, we have also greatly expanded our filling of liquid products and plant oils." Through further acquisitions, the property area of the family business now measures around 30,000 m2. "In 2023, my second son Moritz joined the company and has been actively supporting his brother since," the company founder is pleased to report. Due to high demand, construction to further expand the building capacities has recently started. By the end of 2025, an additional 2,000 m2 of production and storage space as well as 600 m2 of office space are to be constructed. Currently, this 100% family-owned business employs 40 people.

Strong Trade Show Presence

The clients for Innopha's private label products are mainly basic customers, online retailers, and startups. With its own brand Stiefel, the business supplies the retail market. The market area includes Germany, other European, and international markets. Innopha mainly acquires new customers through recommendations. The company's own sales team takes care of existing customers, new customer acquisition, and product management. Besides its own website, the family business also advertises on Google and is present on social media. These marketing activities are supplemented by appearances at trade fairs, such as Spoga in Cologne, Interzoo in Nuremberg, and several B2C fairs like Equitana in Essen or Partner Pferd in Leipzig.

Digital and Sustainable

The expanding company is increasingly relying on digital support. "Since my sons joined the company, we have made great strides," admits Christian Jung openly. Innopha now has a cloud-based inventory management system and a B2B shop for retailers. Calls are made over the cloud and document management is also digitally organized. "In the long run, we want to go completely paperless," explains Maximilian Jung. The family business is no less committed when it comes to sustainability. "We're doing quite a bit here too," assures Maximilian Jung. "For 15 years we have been generating electricity through photovoltaics, we use recyclable films and refill bags. For electric vehicles, we have installed wall boxes and are currently considering the use of electric vehicles for transport between our two locations here in Wadern." The family atmosphere is not only present at the management level but among the entire team. "We are all on a first-name basis and communicate well with one another," emphasizes Maximilian Jung. "Joint activities like bowling or climbing gyms promote team cohesion." Internationalizing the Stiefel private label and offering complete fulfillment are important goals for Christian Jung in the coming years – as well as focusing on even more service.
