Safety, Reliability and Communication all in one go
Interview with Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva, Team Lead Marketing Bicycle and Marine of SENA EU
Since the company was founded in South Korea 25 years ago, SENA has consistently been pushing the edge in reliable team communication solutions for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes. Team Lead Marketing Bicycle and Marine of SENA EU Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva spoke to European Business about evolving trends, differing customer needs and brand-new innovations.
European Business: For 25 years, SENA has been offering team communication equipment for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes. What makes your products special?
Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva: Our products do not require any cell phone coverage at all – so no matter what kind of adventurer you are and how remote the area is that you are exploring, thanks to our patented mesh technology, you will always have reliable communications systems at your disposal. This eliminates any communications gap between one or more individuals or groups of adventurers who want to bike, sail or hike together, and even solo adventurers can enjoy the comfort of not having to hold various devices in their hands or take their cell phones out of their pockets to look for directions or make a call. Instead, with SENA, you can rely on one smart product with cutting-edge technology that will do all that for you.
European Business: Your target audience includes motorcyclists, bicyclists as well as boating and yachting enthusiasts. How different are their needs?
Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva: We want our devices be as tailor-made to the needs of our users as possible. Indeed, motorcyclists do not face the exact same challenges sailors or rock climbers do. On the high seas, for example, there are extremely high forces of wind to be reckoned with, which can cause a lot of noise – this has to be factored into the development of our products.
At the same time, cyclists are not not only looking for a sleek design and integrated communications capabilities, but also a product which can be integrated into any helmet they want, allowing for communication from helmet to helmet when they are riding in a group. Meanwhile, the pivotal USPs of our motorbike products are an extended intercom range and multiple rider connectivity across different devices and ranges, as well as advanced noise control. For this aim, we can rely on our proprietary noise-cancelling technology which couples with wind resistance microphones and ensures crystal-clear audio quality even at high speeds in very challenging outdoor environments, which allows for safer communication. At the same time, our products are not exclusively aimed at outdoor enthusiasts or athletes: Even for everyday bikers who use their bikes to run errands or to go to work, it is important to feel secure when riding alone or with other people. Thanks to our seamless communications capabilities, SENA can successfully inspire that level of confidence.
European Business: Which innovations are currently front and center at SENA?
Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva: Since SENA was founded 25 years ago, our company has consistently focused on excellence in every single product that we have launched, and we remain highly product-driven and customer-focused to this day. This is why we also plan to build on the exact same value system to reach our next milestones and diversify our product portfolio across similar industries. In every department of our company, from our product design teams to our product engagement experts, we are constantly looking into customer feedback as well as the feedback we receive from professional cycling and sailing teams to find effective ways to further develop our products for their evolving needs. In the future, you can expect SENA to focus on expanding into new product lines and advancing our research and development initiatives to create more advanced products by use of our cutting-edge technology. One product we are particularly looking forward to is Talkie, a very versatile communications solution which can be used by adventurers from all walks of life – hikers, rock climbers, paddle-boarders, cyclists and more! You can clip it, wear it, use it in your hands and be good to go for your adventure.
European Business: What is SENA’s vision for the years to come?
Nikita Ghuliani Sachdeva: We aim to maintain the reputation we have built over 25 years as a trusted leader in outdoor communication services and devices, to stay ahead of trends and to consistently deliver high-quality products which seamlessly integrate safety and communication. This is how we want to push our customers to allow them to perform better in their adventures. In the future, we intend to work even more closely with our retailer and distributor network to make sure that they are empowered with the right kind of educative and infotainment content in order to take this mission to our customers around the globe.
