Half a century of customer trust in the areas of bathrooms and heating: Not many companies can boast such a track record. For MSM Bäder + Wärme GmbH, customer trust has always been important. Trust that has been hard-earned: with custom dream bathrooms, energy-saving heating solutions, and qualified employees, many of whom have been with the company from the start.

MSM is a successful medium-sized enterprise where traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology go hand in hand. This applies particularly to the realization of bathrooms according to individual customer specifications. The range of services extends from bathroom fixtures to Jacuzzis, wellness cabins, saunas, and stretch ceilings, up to complete bathrooms from one source. "We sell complete bathrooms to end customers, handle the on-site work, and advise customers in the showroom with 3D bathroom planning," explains Britta Marwede, member of the executive board and responsible for private customer bathroom sales and marketing. For new buildings, they also develop bathrooms in the low-budget sector and take over the complete implementation. MSM primarily serves private customers, both in new construction projects and renovation projects. "On request, we also take care of lighting design and design ceilings, walls, and colors," says Britta Marwede. MSM uses modern 3D planning and presentation software and works with a large number of well-known manufacturers, including Villeroy & Boch, Duravit, Geberit, and Hansgrohe. In the 600 m² showroom at the company's headquarters in Wahrenholz, Lower Saxony, customers can view more than 40 bathrooms and get inspired. In addition, we also advise customers at home, says Britta Marwede. "The exhibition is continuously updated. We have many customers who come by, which is why the own showroom is an important tool for us." MSM also offers a wide range of decorative and wellness items for the new dream bathroom as well as appointment and fixed price guarantees.

Everything from a Single Source

The second business division of MSM encompasses tailor-made heating solutions, from conventional heating systems using oil or gas, to cogeneration plants, innovative hybrid systems, heat pumps, and photovoltaic systems. Many systems can be viewed in the exhibition. In addition to planning, supplying, and installing all building services systems, MSM also takes care of maintenance, repair, and service. "In the heating and warmth sector, we take care of the complete planning, both for private customers and architects," explains Britta Marwede. The areas of bathrooms and heat are complemented by a variety of solutions for increased living comfort. Here, the range includes energy-saving air conditioning systems, systems for controlled residential ventilation, heat recovery units, lighting installations, swimming pool technology, central vacuum systems, electrical installations, and electrical and gas checks.

More than a Quarter Apprentices

MSM was founded in 1974. "We celebrated our 50th company anniversary this year," says Britta Marwede, whose father was one of the founders. "I have been working at the company for 30 years myself. I particularly enjoy working with our customers." On the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the entire exhibition was redesigned and is now significantly more digital. Over the half-century, MSM has continuously grown and currently employs 75 people with a turnover of around 9 million EUR. To secure its own junior staff, the company places great emphasis on training. "We are a training company for plant mechanics in sanitary, heating, and air conditioning technology, office management clerks, and electronics technicians specializing in energy and building services," explains Britta Marwede. "Of our 75 employees, 20 are apprentices. We have always focused on training, which distinguishes us. Recently, we retired our very first former apprentice. Many employees stay with us for a long time; turnover is very low."

Digital Planning on the Advance

A major topic at MSM is currently the digital transformation. "The trades must embrace digitalization," says Brita Marwede. "We cannot go completely paperless, but we try where it is possible." Many of the company's clients are older, especially in the renovation sector, and they still require a lot of paperwork. "In the new bathroom exhibition, customers can view various products directly on the wall via QR code," says Britta Marwede. "Digital planning also helps with budgeting." MSM regularly hosts house fairs and, in addition to traditional print ads, is increasingly promoting its products on social media, but also to attract new apprentices to the company. "Training will continue to be important; we want to weather the tough economic situation well," says Britta Marwede. "We are consistently working on improving our public image and remain future-oriented."
