"Anyone for whom IT plays a role can be our customer!"
Interview with Tobias Glemser, Managing Director of secuvera GmbH
Those who believe that their IT service provider takes care of cybersecurity in their company 100% and is always up to date, might end up paying dearly for this assumption over time. It is more sensible and safer to trust the competence of secuvera GmbH instead. The company, located in Gäufelden in Swabia, specializes as a BSI-certified security service provider in protecting critical electronic data structures.
We look at the customer's needs and have extensive experience in documented processes," promises Tobias Glemser, Managing Director of secuvera GmbH. "We only advise on what the customer really needs and position ourselves in the market as a quality service provider with fair conditions. In doing so, we spend a lot of energy on continuously improving our know-how."
secuvera GmbH operates in three business areas: The IT Security professionals offer security consulting, conduct penetration tests, and serve as a certified testing body of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).
Broad Portfolio
"With our security consulting, we offer companies and organizations a service to protect their information and business-critical data from external attacks," Tobias Glemser emphasizes. "This is done, for example, on the basis of BSI basic protection or according to the specifications of ISO 27001."
Another area of responsibility of secuvera is the so-called penetration tests. In these tests, the security structures of an IT environment are checked for functionality via a planned attack simulation. Last but not least, since 1992, secuvera has been approved as a certified testing center by the BSI. Here, the security of a new product, such as software, is tested under various aspects.
Optionally, for example, the entire product or only specific features, the development of the product or the entire development company can be audited. In addition, secuvera offers training and workshops, for example on web application security or secure development processes for industrial components.
Founded in 1982
Having been in the market for more than 40 years, secuvera took over its first IT security project in 1988, and in 1992 it was accredited as a BSI testing facility. Since the mid-1990s, secuvera has been offering security not as a product, but as a project in accordance with ISO 27001. Moreover, in 2013, it was accredited as a BSI-certified IT security service provider for penetration tests and the company was renamed to its current name.
For many years, security has played a significant role in the industry. Standards such as 62443 are actively co-developed. Currently, secuvera employs over 30 staff members, generating a revenue of four million EUR.
Sustainable in Many Ways
"Anyone for whom IT plays a role can be our customer," explains Tobias Glemser. "In general, our clients are very much driven by specifications and often come from highly regulated industries. This can include financial service providers, insurance companies, and banks, as well as other security-sensitive companies. However, we do not have any industry restrictions on our side."
Customers primarily come from the D-A-CH region but are also international, such as the video telephony provider Zoom. The IT security specialists draw attention through technical articles as well as their presence at congresses and trade fairs, including it-sa and SPS Automation, both in Nuremberg. Another significant aspect is obtaining contracts through recommendations from satisfied existing customers.
The issue of sustainability has many facets for Tobias Glemser: "For me, this includes consultancy, as we make sure that customers always receive a real added value. We are also sustainable in terms of personnel policy, ensuring good working conditions and a respectful interaction amongst colleagues. In the long run, we want to be a reliable employer that strives to make the world safer and to advance its customers. In general, we think in long terms and do not pursue short-term growth objectives."
