Developing systems that make living and working easier has been the driving force of a family-owned company based in Sinn, Hesse, since 1921. Becker-Antriebe GmbH is synonymous not only with innovative drive and control solutions for roller shutters, sun protection systems, and extended applications, but also with strong and lasting partnerships with customers and employees.

When Maik Wiegelmann’s great-grandfather founded the company in 1921, the focus was on precision engineering. A major milestone followed in the 1960s with the development of the first door drive and control units for industrial applications. In 1971, tubular drives for roller shutters and sun protection systems were added to the product portfolio. To this day, drive and control solutions for roller shutters and sun protection systems remain core products of Becker-Antriebe. In addition, the company successfully develops and manufactures drives for a wide range of specialized applications, including drives for smoke and fire protection systems, swimming pools, automatic sliding windows, sports halls, lifts, agricultural applications, and garage doors.

The future is today

Today, Becker is a global player with an export rate of more than 34%, 350 employees, affiliates in France, Spain, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Slovenia and the Netherlands. The company operates worldwide and has become a trusted partner for renowned manufacturers and retailers thanks to its innovative, high-quality products made in Germany. “Customers know they can rely on us”, says Managing Director Maik Wiegelmann. “Even during the pandemic, when business was booming, we were not interested in short-term gains but instead focused on strengthening our long-term partnerships. Back then, turnover had risen to 73 million EUR; today, due to the economic crisis, it has dropped to 62 million EUR. However, we are confident that over the next two or three years, we will return to our previous level thanks to some strategic decisions we have alrady made. Three years ago, we began developing a concept to further strengthen our competiveness. This is a time-consuming process that does not focus on a single product, but rather on a plattform designed to ensure cost-efficient production. We are sure that in the near future, we will be able to provide cutting-edge, high-quality products and establish ourselves as the quality champion in our market. At the same time, we are aware that our success depends on our employees, who are our most important asset.” Becker places great emphasis on involving employees in all decision-making processes. “We are an independent, flexible family-owned company producing high-quality products build to last”, stresses Maik Wiegelmann. “Our aim is that our employees are proud of working with us and that they identify with the company, its products and philosophy.” Based on these guidelines, Becker strives for further growth – not at any price, but in a sustainable way. Several innovative product developments such as the wireless system “Matter®” are already in the pipeline.
