Communicating via fiber optics offers many advantages for users. Especially compared to conventional electrical data transmission, fiber optic networks are characterized by significantly higher transmission rates. To provide network operators with comprehensive services, Fiber Experts GmbH has positioned itself in the market with their turnkey solutions. From analysis to the home connection for the end customer, the Düsseldorf-based company takes care of the entire process and delivers tailor-made solutions from a single source.

It is a comprehensive care package that Fiber Experts GmbH offers on the topic of fiber optics. "From analysis to the completed house connection, we accompany, communicate, and document the entire project digitally," promises CEO Raimund Winkler. "We offer the expansion of fiber optic networks as a turnkey solution." However, the turnkey solution is not all, as the CEO elaborates: "Before the start of a project, the customer is given a binding fixed price by us. The same applies to the completion, which occurs exactly at the time we specify."

Gap in expansion filled

As a startup backed by private equity partners and private investors, Fiber Experts was founded in mid-2021. The founders all came from the fiber optics industry and therefore already had the appropriate contacts and networks. "At that time, there were hardly any capacities for expanding fiber optics in Germany," explains Raimund Winkler the motivation. "And that is exactly the gap we have filled. We see ourselves as a platform and initially had no construction capacities of our own. We brought the necessary capacities to the market via partners and provided them to our first major customer, Deutsche Telekom." Fiber Experts digitizes the entire process to provide optimal service to its customers. Today, the company employs 130 staff members and has now achieved a turnover of 130 million EUR.

All from One Source

The Fiber Experts' portfolio comprises nine steps. It starts with area analysis, covering the needs in a selected region. The subsequent Mobile Mapping provides crucial data on surfaces, addresses, households, and construction lengths. Step three is the coordination of the project with the relevant municipality, followed by High-Level Design and network planning. It gets even more detailed with the subsequent Low-Level Design. The following expansion includes all activities for infrastructure provision. Step seven is customer connections, step eight is documentation and handover, before the possibility of follow-up connections marks the completion of a project.

Network operators as customers

The catchment area of Fiber Experts is Germany, with customers being network operators like Deutsche Telekom, WestConnect, and Netcom BW. The sales are managed by CCO Kerstin Larsson-Knetsch, responsible for sales and marketing, along with a team of Customer Managers.

"Each customer has a dedicated contact person in the company," emphasizes CEO Raimund Winkler. The entire process is digital and continually accessible to customers at every phase of the project. Additionally, the subcontracted firms must also use the digital tools of Fiber Experts in the interest of uniform and streamlined processes. Besides digitization, sustainability is also a topic of concern. The environmentally friendly horizontal directional drilling method is used for laying fiber optics, and the communication enabled through fiber optics is inherently very sustainable. The main focus for the coming years is the stabilization of the market position of the still young company.
