It's Working!
Interview with Christian Hasler, Managing Director of SKILLCOURT GmbH
Movement is important for physical and mental health. Getting people moving is also the goal of SKILLCOURT GmbH from Bergrheinfeld. The company has developed a unique diagnostic and training device that tests and trains visual, cognitive, and motor skills – and thus provides a crucial component for successful therapies and training.
Those who want to stay fit and mobile train. It is often forgotten how movement actually works, according to the experience of SKILLCOURT GmbH. "Movement follows a constant pattern," says CEO Christian Hasler. "It's about the intake of information, the processing of this information in the brain, and motor skills. Most therapy and training facilities focus on the motor aspect and neglect the cognitive. Our solution is a testing and training device; the combination is special."
Learning in Motion
Christian Hasler knows what he's talking about. After studying sports sciences, he became self-employed with a therapy and training center and founded a running school in 2017 – today the largest in Europe, with many renowned licensing partners. In 2019, Marcel Grünewald joined as CEO; he oversees the technical aspect of the company. Together, they expanded the range of services and developed SKILLCOURT in 2019, a system that scientifically tests and trains visual, cognitive, and motor skills.
"Characteristic is an integrative training, a combination of information intake, processing, and action," emphasizes Christian Hasler. "With this, we have developed something completely new. In January 2020, the first SKILLCOURTS were sold, mostly to fitness facilities, thus solving mainly problems of the post-Corona era. More and more people are working on PCs and moving too little. With our diagnostic and training device, we cushion the negative effects of digitalization." Thanks to SKILLCOURT, cognitive skills such as memory retention, logical and creative thinking, as well as visual competencies like timing or quick recognition, are playfully tested and trained. Given the increasing cases of dementia, fatal traffic accidents, or falls, the realization that the brain is stimulated to work more efficiently through movement is gaining importance. Since 2023, SKILLCOURT is also operating internationally, with companies in the UK and the USA, employs 50 staff, generates a revenue of about 5 million EUR, and counts the best facilities in the world among its clients. "In the medical and athletic field, we hold a unique position," says Christian Hasler. "There are competitors who take up the topic simplistically, but with our comprehensive solution, we are unique." The excellence of the product, state-of-the-art technology, software, and application expertise set SKILLCOURT apart from the market – a good precondition for many people, young and old, top athletes, children, and individuals with health issues, to stay or become mobile and fit in the future.
