Interview with René Buzek, Managing Director of Autorola.at
Originally started as an online auction platform for vehicles, Autorola has long since developed into a comprehensive provider of digital services. Autorola GmbH, based in Vienna, is one of now a total of 24 branches in different countries, which supply various customer groups—tailored to their specific requirements—with all relevant information around cars.
"We simply have immense experience in online remarketing and digitalization," enthuses René Buzek, Managing Director of Autorola.at. "Our well-trained employees all have high-level skills, so we have all the know-how in-house. And the combination of our three business units results in an optimal outcome." The three business units are Autorola Marketplace, Autorola Solutions, and Indicata.
As a platform for online vehicle auctions, Autorola Marketplace has established itself. "Here we serve various segments tailored to specific user groups," explains René Buzek. "These are groups like leasing companies, banks, importers, fleet customers, rentals, dealers. All processes are then customized with their own procedures and guidelines tailored to the respective segment." The range includes auctions without a starting price and with a minimum price, buy-now options, and blind bids. All actors of the Autorola Marketplace must register and are checked by Autorola.

Autorola Solutions is a business unit of Autorola. Here it is about various software solutions, all specially developed by Autorola, such as electronic vehicle description tools, trade-in apps, workflow management systems, and much more. Our workflow management system, called Fleet Monitor, covers everything that concerns the lifecycle of a vehicle," explains the Managing Director. "From the allocation of a chassis number at the factory, the Fleet Monitor documents and processes the entire lifecycle of a vehicle, automates the processes, and even communicates with all connected service providers. Thus, all cycles like infleeting, running fleet, and defleeting are depicted and automated." In addition to these digital software solutions, Autorola also offers infleet services.
All customers can outsource various services such as transport, storage, logistics, preparation, assessment, license plate handling, deregistration, and much more to Autorola - a full-service solution, the so-called Full Service Solution. The services of Autorola are rounded off by the third business area, Indicata. "This market & business intelligence software determines the value of a vehicle based on real-time data," explains René Buzek. "The basis for this are approximately 14 million vehicle data that we scan daily worldwide." Filters reflect the current market situation in different countries individually.
"With store monitoring, I can also determine the value of my current vehicle fleet on a daily basis," says the Managing Director. "Even a forecast of the vehicle value for the future end is possible, as residual value forecasting is becoming an increasingly important aspect." As a platform for online car auctions, the brothers Martin and Peter Gröftehauge started their company in 1996 in Denmark. The current structure with three business units has existed since 2014. Currently, the company employs 800 staff in 19 European countries as well as in Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. The system includes over 70,000 dealers and more than 1.1 million vehicles have been auctioned so far. For the future, René Buzek has a clear vision: that every car will be marketed digitally and online in the future.
