Since the 1960s, Bellini Nautica has evolved from a small wooden boat workshop into an internationally renowned manufacturer of luxurious boats and yachts. Under the leadership of Battista Bellini, who has been heading the company since 2016, Bellini Nautica is now focusing on a return to in-house production with plans to expand into international markets. CEO Battista Bellini explains in an interview with Wirtschaftsforum how Bellini Nautica aims to reach the top by merging traditional craftsmanship with innovative technology.

Wirtschaftsforum: Mr. Bellini, your family business has a long history. Can you describe the company's journey up to the present?

Battista Bellini: Yes, that's correct. The beginnings of our company go back to the 1960s when my grandfather started building wooden boats. After his early death, my father took over the business and specialized in the restoration of Riva boats. This decision made us the leading provider in this area over decades. I have been part of the company since my childhood and took over the management in 2016. In 2022, we took the step to go public to finance growth and to push forward with our own production. A big moment for us was also the presentation of the ‘Astor 36’ at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where we could show an international audience our vision of luxury and tradition.

Wirtschaftsforum: What triggered the return to in-house production?

Battista Bellini: For us, it was a natural progression. My grandfather built boats, and with our 'Astor 36' we are reconnecting with this tradition. This line is not just a tribute to our origins, but will also be the main engine for our future growth. It feels as though we are reviving my grandfather’s legacy – and this fills us all with pride.

Battista Bellini: The ‘Astor 36’ is definitely among them, as the first model of our new product line it perfectly embodies the combination of tradition and innovation. Our restored vintage Riva boats are also in demand, exuding a special appeal for collectors and lovers of Italian nautical. Both lines represent our values: highest quality and a passion for extraordinary design.

Battista Bellini: Of course, these factors are not to be underestimated, but they also offer us opportunities. The current situation allows us to more specifically focus on the quality of our products and plan for sustainable growth. Through controlled expansion, we can ensure high standards and build long-term relationships with our customers and local partners. 95% of our suppliers are within just a 10 km radius of our production site. This means short distances, high quality, and flexibility.
