“Flexibility is not a buzzword - it’s our business model”

Interview with Hilmija Drnda, Board Member of NVision Czech Republic a.s.

Looking back often helps explain the present. At NVision, this is particularly evident: a company that has had to reinvent itself time and again - and has drawn its strength precisely from that. Hilmija Drnda reflects on transformations that would have derailed many other companies. Yet a closer look reveals that this is about more than mere adaptation - it is a matter of mindset.

From hardware pioneer to flexible EMS partner

NVision Czech Republic a.s. was founded in 1993 in a market that was still far removed from today’s technological standards. Initially, the focus was on proprietary telecommunications hardware. However, with the rise of IP technology, this business model gradually lost relevance.
“As IP technologies emerged, specialized hardware became increasingly unnecessary,” says Hilmija Drnda.

The company’s response was a decisive strategic shift. NVision evolved into a provider of Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) and today produces customized electronic assemblies for industrial clients - particularly in the automotive sector, but also for applications in building technology and consumer electronics. “We don’t manufacture our own products; we produce electronics precisely according to our customers’ specifications,” explains the board member.

With around 350 employees and revenues of approximately 65 to 75 million EUR, the company now ranks among the top 5 EMS providers in Central and Eastern Europe. What matters is not size, but positioning: NVision sees itself as a flexible partner within complex supply chains.

Speed as a competitive advantage

Recent years have been shaped by global crises - pandemic, supply chain disruptions, geopolitical tensions. For NVision, this meant one thing above all: responding quickly.
“We were able to take over a complete project from Ukraine within a single month,” emphasizes the beneficial owner.

This responsiveness is no coincidence. Short decision-making paths, strong local roots, and a flexible staffing model enable the company to scale capacities up or down at short notice.
“Our decision-making processes are extremely short - that makes us faster than many of our competitors,” the executive points wasout.

At the same time, crises are not only risks for NVision, but also opportunities. While others hesitate, NVision uses such situations to build trust with customers - by ensuring reliable delivery, even in critical times.

People, responsibility, and pragmatic sustainability

Despite all the technology involved, one factor remains central for Hilmija Drnda: people. The workforce is deeply rooted in the region, with several generations of the same family often working at the company. “Successful business is always about people, not technology,” says Hilmija Drnda.

NVision also takes a pragmatic approach to sustainability. ESG requirements are met - for example through certifications and investments in energy efficiency - but the company remains realistic.
“If ESG measures increase our costs and customers are not willing to bear them, we have to set clear priorities,” the company representative explains.

Looking ahead, the outlook remains optimistic. Demand is growing, and the order situation is stable. The goal is clearly defined: NVision aims to become the number 1 EMS provider in Central and Eastern Europe.

An ambitious plan - but one that fits the company’s track record.
