From Shop Fitting to Charging Station
Interview with Sebastian Hellmich, Managing Director and Sebastian Reh, Sales Director of hesotec gmbh
Electromobility is full of potentials and challenges – from charging infrastructure to energy management. hesotec gmbh has made a name for itself in both metal construction and the development of high-quality charging stations. Managing Director Sebastian Hellmich and Sales Director Sebastian Reh discuss the strategic steps the company is taking and how it meets market requirements in conversation with Wirtschaftsforum.
hesotec GmbH has undergone impressive development over the last two decades. Founded in 2003, the company started as a metalworking service provider for store construction and has since developed into a pioneer in the field of electromobility. Sebastian Hellmich, Managing Director and son of the founder, and Sebastian Reh, Sales Manager, are driving this change forward with a clear strategy and innovative approaches. "Our strength lies in our flexibility and our ability to respond quickly and precisely to individual customer requirements," explains Sebastian Hellmich. This flexibility, combined with technical expertise, has enabled hesotec to grow from developing simple metal solutions to highly specialized products such as charging stations for electric vehicles. In doing so, the company is not only a strong partner in classical store construction but also in the energy sector and in the development of customized project solutions for its customers.
Entering Electric Mobility
Six years ago, entering electric mobility marked a decisive turning point for hesotec. With the founding of the division hesotec electrify, the company expanded its portfolio to include charging infrastructures, which are used in private, semi-public, and public areas. "We consciously opted for the premium segment. Our products are characterized by high-quality materials, attractive design, and comprehensive services," says Sebastian Reh. In addition to charging stations, hesotec offers energy management systems that improve operation and energy efficiency. A new milestone is the introduction of a certified product for public charging solutions. "This opens up new market opportunities for us and responds to the growing demand for sustainable solutions," adds Sebastian Hellmich. The combination of design, functionality, and service gives hesotec a competitive advantage that new partnerships and sales strategies are intended to further strengthen.
Operational Even in Difficult Times
Like many companies, hesotec also struggled with the effects of the pandemic and rising energy costs due to the Ukraine war. Material shortages in sheets and semiconductors as well as high energy prices tested the flexibility and resilience of the company. Nevertheless, through forward-looking planning, long-term contracts, and close cooperation with suppliers, it was possible to maintain stability. "The pandemic has shown us how important good preparation and a flexible team are to remain operational even in difficult times," emphasizes Sebastian Hellmich. However, the market remains challenging. "Especially in electromobility, we feel the uncertainty due to the lack of legal frameworks," he adds. These uncertainties make it difficult to conclude new contracts and curb investments, which has noticeable effects especially in a growing market segment like electromobility. Therefore, it is even more important for hesotec to strategically explore new markets. The focus is on stronger internationalization, starting in Europe, and expanding the product portfolio. Sebastian Reh, who as Sales Manager sets new impulses, emphasizes: "Our task is to increase brand awareness, test innovative sales channels, and strengthen existing partnerships."
Values and Sustainability for Corporate Success
The future plans of hesotec are clearly defined. In addition to expanding electromobility, the modernization of metal construction production is also on the agenda. "We are investing in new technologies and machines to produce more efficiently and sustainably," explains Sebastian Hellmich. In recent years, for example, photovoltaic systems have been installed to make the energy supply more sustainable. Another example is the in-house production of nitrogen, which is needed for metal processing and is done with electricity generated in-house. These measures reduce costs and at the same time strengthen the ecological responsibility of the company. "We want to create real added value with our work and at the same time reduce the ecological footprint of our products," emphasizes Sebastian Hellmich. As an employer, hesotec relies on a corporate culture characterized by collaboration, mutual learning, and development. "The identification with the company and the values lived are very noticeable among us," describes Sebastian Reh, who recently joined the company. These values are a cornerstone for corporate success and a crucial factor in attracting and retaining talent. In an industry increasingly suffering from a shortage of skilled workers, hesotec positions itself as an attractive employer with long-term prospects. The company relies on a combination of innovative products, sustainable processes, and a corporate culture that equally promotes team spirit and individual development. "Our goal is to build a strong brand that stands for quality and innovation. With healthy, sustainable growth, we aim to take a leading position in our core markets," summarizes Sebastian Hellmich. hesotec is ready to actively shape the future - in electromobility as well as in traditional metal construction.
