Metal processing has changed significantly in recent decades. While traditional methods continue to be in demand, modern companies increasingly rely on technological innovations and sustainable processes. MasperoTech S.r.l., based in Monza, Italy, combines these two aspects and is today one of the leading European companies in the hot forming and mechanical processing of non-ferrous metals.

Wirtschaftsforum: MasperoTech has a long history. Can you tell us about the development of the company?

Guiseppe Pons: MasperoTech was founded in 1909 by the Maspero family and began as a foundry, specialized in artisanal metal products such as lamps and door fittings. After World War II, the company shifted to technical production, particularly in casting and forging techniques. In the 1970s, we focused on the machining of copper alloys and since the late 1990s on the hot forming of lightweight aluminum alloys primarily for the automotive industry and the construction of high-tech components. Since 2018, we have been part of the CMO Group, which has enabled us to significantly expand our capacities in the area of large-scale, structurally relevant components.

Wirtschaftsforum: What markets and industries do you serve today?

Pietro Solarino: We work as a supplier for a variety of industries, including rail transport, aerospace, electromechanics, and the automotive sector. Particularly exciting are markets that require high quality standards and certifications, such as aerospace or rail transport. We currently have about 160 active customers worldwide, with a strong focus on the German market, where we particularly collaborate with companies from the railway and electric mobility industries.

Wirtschaftsforum: What marketing and sales strategies are you using to position MasperoTech in the market?

Susanna Ripamonti: Our focus is on direct customer contact and participation in international fairs. We are present at the most important industry fairs, especially at ALUMINIUM in Düsseldorf and the international fair for the forging industry. In addition to the classic trade fair appearance, we strongly rely on digital channels like LinkedIn to communicate our innovative strength and our commitment to sustainability.

Wirtschaftsforum: How do you ensure that the company remains technologically at the forefront?

Guiseppe Pons: Our strength lies in the complete in-house control of the production process. We handle everything from the development of designs to the manufacturing of forged parts to mechanical processing. Our machines are among the largest and most capable in Europe, allowing us to produce parts up to 3 meters in length and weighing several hundred kilograms. Through our close cooperation with research institutes and universities, we continue to drive innovation forward.

Wirtschaftsforum: How do you face the challenges of international competition?

Pietro Solarino: The competition in metal processing is tough, especially in Europe where production costs are higher than in Asia or South America. Our strategy is not only to be a producer, but also a development partner for our customers. We offer them not just forged parts, but we support them from the initial idea to the finished product with engineering support and quality assurance. Additionally, we rely on flexible production processes that enable us to quickly respond to individual customer needs.

Wirtschaftsforum: Sustainability is a major topic today. What actions has MasperoTech implemented in this area?

Susanna Ripamonti: Since 2023, we have been publishing an annual sustainability report and are working to further reduce our CO2 emissions. A major step was the installation of photovoltaic systems, which currently generate 1 MW of energy – with the goal of increasing this capacity to 3 MW in the coming years. Additionally, we have introduced a water management system that collects rainwater for use in our production processes.

Wirtschaftsforum: What future strategies is MasperoTech pursuing?

Guiseppe Pons: We aim to further expand our market leadership in the forging and machining of light metal alloys such as aluminum and magnesium, and technological non-ferrous alloys like titanium. For this purpose, we are expanding our production capabilities and opening up new markets, particularly in North America and Asia. At the same time, we are investing in new materials and manufacturing technologies to make our products more powerful and sustainable. In the long term, MasperoTech aims to become a reference company in Europe for the advanced processing of non-ferrous metals and light metal alloys.
