Increasing regulation and bureaucracy are paralyzing the economy. Tax consultations are more in demand than ever. According to Handelsblatt, the 30 largest tax consulting firms achieved an increase of about 15% in the last fiscal year. hmd-software AG supports tax offices and independent companies with software solutions that simplify bureaucracy.

hmd-software AG was founded in 1985 and has since focused on software solutions for tax consultancies and independent businesses. Much has changed over the years, but much has remained the same. Christian Heidler, who has been involved since the beginning and has been on the board for twelve years, has actively accompanied the development of the company. "Over the long period, there have been many technical and substantive changes," he says. "Areas such as accounting or bookkeeping must comply with new legal requirements, and the software must take that into account. With our software, we want to simplify bureaucracy and provide security to our clients."

With one click, seamlessly

hmd stands for seamless software that is user-friendly and delivers quick results. "With one click, all necessary information should be available to the user," emphasizes Christian Heidler. "Because numbers that are quickly available are essential for decision-making, the theme of real-time plays a central role. Numbers are processed immediately by us and are available in real-time. This is a USP that sets us apart from the market and brings added value to customers."

Actively Shaping the Market

hmd has been based in Andechs since its founding; many of the 60 employees work across Europe from home offices. As a grown company, hmd places great value on transparency and an open corporate culture. Flat hierarchies enable quick decisions. "We always have an open ear for our employees," says Christian Heidler. "This also applies to the management. It is important to us to actively take employees by the hand, removing their fear of change. Everyone has a specific continuing education budget available and is actively reminded to use it to develop themselves and the company further." hmd has positioned itself excellently in the market with this philosophy. "Our challenge is to survive in the shark tank of tax consulting software," explains Christian Heidler. "There are five or six software manufacturers for tax consultants, but only four cover the entire portfolio; we are number 3. Because the company functions as a team, we are more efficient and effective."

Growing Organically and as a Team

In the future, hmd plans to grow organically - slowly and healthily. "We will place a stronger focus on topics such as automation and AI, expand the company, and tackle the market more aggressively with real-time issues," says Christian Heidler. "Above all, we will show what is possible as a small company when the right staff is in place."
