It is incredibly important to think positive if you want to do something good for yourself, your body and your spirit. You can even infect others with a positive attitude and spread cheerfulness. We’ve put together seven tips for how you can train yourself to think positive. 

1. Be mindful

Be mindful in everyday life and pause for a moment every now and then. Make yourself aware of what is especially nice about where you are, what you’re doing or this moment when you’re doing it. Focus only on the beautiful moments, and you’ll feel good.

2. Laugh more

Laugh more because laughing makes you happy. Just smile at a stranger, and you’ll see that you get a smile back. It makes you feel good fast as the brain releases more happiness hormones when you smile.

3. Separate yourself from negative situations

When you surround yourself with negative influences, the attitude rubs off on you. If you have negative people around you, be sure to have as little contact to them as possible, if any at all. Surround yourself with people with positive attitudes, and you’ll be happier yourself.

4. Take care of yourself

If you feel good about yourself, you’ll give off completely different vibes. If you yourself feel good, your spirit will feel good too. So, take care of yourself and don’t let yourself go. Take a walk or a bike tour, and eat healthy foods. You’ll soon notice the positive effects.

5. Minimize negative external messages

Who’s never experienced this? All over the news on the radio, on TV, in the newspaper or on social networks, it’s negative headlines. Positive events are hardly featured at all. To get some distance from negative news, go without social networks for a few days and listen to your favourite CD from your youth instead of the radio to allow positive feelings to resurface.

6. Be inspired Talk to optimistic People 

They create feel-good moments. They might reveal to you their tips for positive thinking. Or read a book about being happy. It helps you change your thinking.

7. Think of your personal successes

When you think about your personal successes of the past, you are taken right back in time to pleasant situations. Don’t think about your failures, and avoid thoughts like “I’ll never make it anyway” or “I can’t do it”. Remember the times when everything worked out well and you excelled beyond your limitations. You might want to keep a happiness journal where you can always look back at your successes.
