Italy’s pharmaceutical industry is second in Europe for production volume and one of the largest in the world. The period between 2008 and 2013 saw Italy’s gross domestic product fall by 7% while pharmaceutical production rose by 2%. According to the National Institute for Statistics, Italy has 174 factories and roughly 62,000 employees. One of these high performing, innovative companies is Doppel Farmaceutici, which is headquartered in Cortemaggiore.
