Tourism & Leisure

Just feel well

When planning to go on vacation, you usually have to make a decision: Beach holiday, wellness, cycling with friends, culture trip or just spending some time off – these are only some of so many possibilities, and you can’t have everything. At least you think so – unless you’ve been at a place that convinces you of the contrary: TERME OLIMIA d.d., based in Podčetrtek, Slovenia, is a wellness, healthcare and holiday resort offering all the possibilities for everybody to have the time of their lives.

Interview with Juuso Klemola, Commercial Manager at KILROY Finland Oy AB

Time, meaningfully spent

Travelling broadens the mind. There is nothing new about this recognition, but the question is what you make of it: Travelling the world, studying abroad and learning about other cultures might leave a meaningful impact on one’s future life. This is exactly the approach of KILROY Finland Oy AB. The company based in Helsinki is the market leader in the youth and student travelling sector in Finland and provides a huge variety of opportunities for young people to see the world and have experiences that last a lifetime – far away from mainstream tourism. European Business spoke with Commercial Manager Juuso Klemola about travelling as a unique experience.

A hidden gem in Poland

European integration has been going on for a while now. Despite that, many business and leisure travellers still seem to miss out on what is going on in the aspiring east of Europe: The installation of brand new hot spots in the international hospitality industry that cater to even the most demanding guests.

Royal time out

The view, the décor, the comfort, the food, that special something: those who treat themselves to an out-of-town break from everyday stress want the perfect, all round package. Not just the room, but the service, the extras and the ambience must hit the mark. The Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels in Tal der Loreley offers its guests a top-class experience, which includes being made to feel like royalty.

A sure bet

Gambling has always been a closely regulated and restricted activity. However, by opening up the market in recent years, national governments have been able to secure a slice of a highly lucrative pie. Legally licensed gambling halls and amusement arcades have sprouted up across Europe offering a range of betting machines for punters to try their luck. The secret to success is making the gambling experience worth the money that is more commonly lost than won. One of the most popular games is Book of Ra which was invented by NOVOMATIC, an Austrian-based company which is represented in the Italian market by NOVOMATIC Italia SpA.

The whole world inside a box

Cultural events enrich life in even the smallest community. For a larger city to be without a suitable venue for big events to take place means there is a big hole in that city’s attractiveness to its residents – and an opportunity to be taken for an entrepreneurially-minded organization. That was the thinking of the Feneberg family when they decided to fund and build a modern event venue in their home town of Kempten in the picturesque Allgäu region of Bavaria. Built for a total cost of 20 million EUR and offering 4,500 m² of space, bigBOX Allgäu opened in 2003. It is operated by FH Promotions GmbH & Co. KG.

Wind at the end of the tunnel

For those who always fancied having a go at skydiving but are (understandably) scared of jumping out of aeroplanes, technology has come up with another option. Artificial free fall simulators are the latest trend to be lapped up by experience-hungry Millennials, giving them another item to tick off on their things-to-do-before-they’re-30 bucket lists. Giving participants the feeling of flying in a controlled, safe environment, the vertical wind tunnels made by Strojirna Litvinov, s.r.o. in the Czech Republic are among the most technologically advanced in the world.

Heaven is a village in France

If you have ever been to the south of France, you know it is more than special. A breathtaking landscape, inviting beaches, picturesque towns, and wine and food so close to the source that your taste buds take you to a different dimension. No wonder that people fall in love with the location. And what started out as a holiday destination for European royalty, has been a vacation spot for Hollywood stars and producers, entrepreneurs, and artists for decades now. One of the favourite luxury retreats of this international clientele: The Chèvre D’Or, situated right over the Mediterranean sea, embedded in the heavenly village of Eze.

New name, same smile

The TUI Group is the largest leisure, travel and tourism company in the world. It owns travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cruise ships and retail stores as well as nine tour operators based in Europe and Scandinavia. One of these was Star Tour AS in Norway, which was responsible for serving customers in the entire Norwegian market. Having been part of the TUI Group since 2000, the company changed its name to TUI Norway on 1 November 2016. The Norwegian arm is a leader within the group in terms of its use of digital technology. In the Scandinavian market, 80% of all bookings are made online or via mobile phone apps.
