We take care of your logistics journey
Interview with Roger Walsh, Sales Director, and Luna Goudart, Marketing und Sales Representative, United Logistics Services International B.V.
Today it is the relocation of an office building in Paris, next week the transport of new furniture to a renovated hotel in Amsterdam, and the following month the sensitive in-house relocation of an extensive IT department – when it comes to planning and implementing complete solutions for complicated and complex relocations, United Logistics Services International B.V. from Nootdorp in the Netherlands is the right address. The company is familiar with all kinds of logistical challenges and has become one of the best-known names in logistics – far beyond its home country.
“In terms of relocations or refurbishments, it’s not just a case of transporting goods from A to B. Solutions are needed that start with the collection of new furniture or fittings from the factory and continue right through to cleaning the finished rooms in a shop, hotel or office,” says Sales Director Roger Walsh. “We are very service- and customer-orientated and see the big picture when it comes to logistic processes. I think that’s what has fuelled our global success over the past 13 years.” The company now offers its logistics solutions internationally and, currently, it generates 80% of its turnover internationally.
Advice is the first step
United Logistics Services International was founded in 2012 by Danny van der Meer and Robert Jan Voerman and is a subsidiary of Voerman International. “We employ twelve people at our Nootdorp site and also have a branch in Warsaw, Poland,” says Roger Walsh. “We focus on logistics and transport for hospitality, retail and interior design, but also IT and office environments, and we enter the game when normal removal and transport companies stop.” The company’s service starts with a clear focus on advice. What needs to be moved where and how? And how can this be organized as smoothly and trouble-free as possible? These are precisely the questions that customers ask the company. And to which United Logistics Services International finds convincing answers. “We have a lot of regular customers and we are always as good as our last project,” explains Roger Walsh. “It’s all about taking off the burden from the customer and managing the seamless integration of the entire logistics process. We follow seven steps that complete a project: warehousing, packaging, customs formalities, insurance, transport, unloading, unpacking, and white glove service and installation.”
Personal contact is key
“One recent contract for the retail sector involved the logistics for a complete roll-out of a company in Germany. We collected displays from the factory, took them to the individual locations and installed them there,” Roger Walsh gives an example. In addition to renovation, ULSI also carries out the clearing out of existing furniture, the re-installation of existing furniture and the installation of new furniture, and offers its customers the option of a second life for their old furniture. “Customers want everything to be on site at exactly the right time – and they want to track and trace the entire process. This is why we provide full live remote tracking for all transports. Customers know where their products or objects are at any time,” adds marketing and sales representative Luna Goudart. Even in a predominantly digital world, United Logistics Services International still prioritizes personal contact and being loyal to its customers. “We want to sit at the table with our customers, which is why we travel a lot. Nevertheless, the communication can also be digital or on the phone, but our customers really appreciate the personal touch,” says Roger Walsh. United Logistics Services International is aiming for organic growth and would like to increasingly communicate the expertise it has in many fields to the outside world in the future. “We want to retain even more customers and act as a reliable consultant that offers customers an added value in all their logistics matters,” says Roger Walsh. Internally, the company is focusing on increasing digitalization and sustainability. “All employees have access to all data for a project. This ensures that the right information reaches everyone. Our team has all the necessary insight into a project,” says Luna Goudart. “We have a collegial way of working together. We enjoy what we do. In order to give customers the much-needed advice, it’s also important to offer in-house expertise step by step in our logistics process. We support each other and therefore also the customer. We work hand in hand so that every challenge becomes a success.”
